Re: A NTP oddness on just one server

I don't work with a lot of VMs but this is very interesting.

The misbehaving instance on the same machine is set to take its time from its own NTP agent?

Do you have restrict default kod nomodify notrap in each of the ntp.conf files?

[Forum] Thank you sunrat! Thank you administrators!

Hi Everyone, The forums recently suffered a networking issue (DDoS if you must know) and in the background the admin team scrambled like eggs. Sunrat who was online at the time was instrumental in the fix and taught us a few things along the way. Pardon the small about of downtime please, we are bac...

Re: Debian's Community on discord is back

While Debian celebrates Linux and communities, especially Debian Communities, the Discord link given is not an official Debian resource nor administered by Debian.

Linuxgaming1824 Please slow your postings per day down a bit, right now it looks like you are spamming the forums. These are technical forums where users come to ask questions and read guides, the assumption is the answer or guide is based on experience and not experimentation though if the latter ...

Re: [HowTo] Repeat official building process

Sounds like you are doing a blend for a specific environment more than anything really suspicious, but I'm not an expert in the field. You should read the kernel building section of the kernel manual which I think has the steps you need to accomplish your inquiry, chapter 4 specifically. https://ker...

mfsymlink allows for unix style symlinks on mounted SMB volumes. It is very useful for allowing unix style symlinks for Windows and Mac clients on the network. /etc/fstab: //SMBSERVER/SMBSHARE /MOUNTDIR cifs uid=$usernameOR$uid,gid=$groupnameOR$gid,credentials=/home/$USER/.credentials 0 0 command l...

Re: [Request] Forum navigation tree?

Some of the themes aren't really uniform, I'd like to get us down to 5 adding new ones and removing other ones but people are using some of the ones that do not work so they remain. Looks like we found another one not in compliance.

Re: [Solved] Lost System Timing...Is this NTP configured properly?

Augie77 You need to have a minimum of 4 servers to have your ntpsec (right, ntpsec right?) running properly, else the time is not valid for any machine that you are serving else your systems clock sans offset or reference clock will eventually drift. maxclock needs to be an odd number +3 or +5 from...

Re: [Industry] How did you become a Linux Administrator?

Very good question! Unfortunately it is a bit complicated as it really depends on your discipline or area of focus. The CompTIA Linux+ is a good start and gives you a good ideal of how to work on and around systems, but again your focus is going to be what really guides your process. Lightweight Dir...

Re: [Off-Topic] f-droid app - Rethink

F-droid.org has it's own forums, I think you get better answers there. The OP is not that technical of a post that they need to be re-directed elsewhere. I use Android and from our last 'Which Mobile Vendor device do you use?' Survey it seems we have a fair amount of Android users, it can be surmis...
