Re: Unknown process.. I cant find an answer on google, duckduckgo or anywhere.. "uas"
"man" is the command to show manual pages. "man ps" shows the manual page of the "ps" command. You can run commands from a terminal emulator. You cannot kill kernel threads, they are not userspace processes. Also, you really should not kill processes unless you know wh...

Re: Unknown process.. I cant find an answer on google, duckduckgo or anywhere.. "uas"
when i get a process i dont know if its good or bad, i want to kill it in 5 red seconds just to be on the safe side. That's the exact wrong thing to do. Regardless of your years of experience you first want to learn the many things you don't know, like from reading a man page, and then stop assumin...

Re: Unknown process.. I cant find an answer on google, duckduckgo or anywhere.. "uas"
Definitely not a guru here but guessing from a search. uas results show it's a kernel module "USB Attached SCSI" used by some external drives. From https://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/linux-kernel-70/modules-uas-or-usb_storage-still-in-use-after-usb-drive-has-been-unplugged-417573059...

Unknown process.. I cant find an answer on google, duckduckgo or anywhere.. "uas"

Re: [Discussion] What change, if implemented, would cause you to leave Debian?
Thread question :) What change, if implemented, would cause you to leave Debian? Big or small, broad or niche, do you draw the line on a particular choice that future Debian might make? What change, if implemented, would induce you to move from Debian to some other distribution? I started with Mint1...

Re: ( closed )Trying to install debian without all bloatware
If the thread is done, there's no point answering your query. Frankly, I posted the link mostly for the benefit of new users. Yes, Debian has documentation, lots of it. Exactly! I closed the thread and posted my solution of my problem so it became a solved/closed thread. Then you guys started argui...

Re: [Solved] Just installed Debian 12.1.. Hibernation works 80% of the times and a weird Grub line..
Hello, I have the impression that this discussion is over. It is strange how sometimes the anomalies happen more often to the same people. Maybe the computer gremlin likes to make fun of the same people. :) Considering how little time you can devote to troubleshoot Debian GNU/Linux (and all the tim...

Hello, If I understand your previous post correctly, you are frustrated with the performance and stability of Linux for your specific hardware and needs. Therefore, you are considering installing Windows for your primary desktop use, which seems like a good choice for you. You can still help by usi...

Re: ( closed )Trying to install debian without all bloatware
Yes, indeed, Debian's documentation isn't difficult to find. But as said above, the documetation should go with a person who open it for the reader on the right page. Note, there is are some people elsewhere who take as offence if advised to read some man page. First of all.. you do know you writin...

Re: Just installed Debian 12.1.. Hibernation works 80% of the times and a weird Grub line..
Hello, Nice to hear from you again. the solution on this thread was to install older drivers I'm happy you got sorted. the nouveau driver is crap(the problem) and should not be used.. I kindly disagree with your statement quoted above. It is sometimes easy to fall into the error of harshly criticis...

I marked the thread as solved even it isn't solved.
I still dont know what the problem is, but i made a workaround to make it work for time being.

Re: ( closed )Trying to install debian without all bloatware
Does it have to be xfce? (*Might be heresy*) Look at WattOS. It's a Debian "derivative" which only uses the Debian Repositories. More of a customized Debian. Lightweight. It used the LXDE DE. Doesn't have media player, office as in LibreOffice - although it has office, as in Document View...

Re: ( closed )Trying to install debian without all bloatware
How could i educate my self when i dont have anything to study from???? Debian's install tools and processes are extensively documented. To bad no one told me that 1½years ago then and pointed me to it. if you dont know the keywords to search for, then you never find it without some one pointing yo...

Re: ( closed )Trying to install debian without all bloatware
Then perhaps it'd be wise to educate yourself on doing a minimal install? If you deselect everything in Debian's installer the machine will still network and apt will still work. If you don't want the extra packages why install them in the first place? it was kind of what i asked for in the first p...

Re: ( closed )Trying to install debian without all bloatware
You're not obliged to install the complete XFCE desktop: then you get all software that normally is included. An office suite is not considered bloatware. Bloatware are incomplete programs that want you to pay for a full version and nag you until you do, or software that bombards you with advertise...

Re: ( closed )Trying to install debian without all bloatware
I have no problem with Linux operating systems c.q. Debian as far as their more or less bloated  OOTB versions are concerned , plenty of choice : https://cdimage.debian.org/debian-cd/current-live/amd64/iso-hybrid/ What more do you want ? Re: ( closed )Trying to install debian without all bloatware
There is no bloatware in Debian. There is in a certain closed-source operating system from Redmond. Further discussion pointless. Really!! If i install Debian Xfce and i get Libre office as default office apps.. but i dont want Libre office.. Then libre office is Bloat. I wont mention all packages ...
