Re: Has anyone replaced (or added) systemd-boot over grub
FWIW If you want to use systemd-boot try it out with an arch based distro. If you do use systemd-boot, do not expect to keep grub operational, keep the code but don't try to run both at once.

Re: [Hardware] debian keybinding of alt to use like mac
Simply change your default keybindings to map the function you prefer to perform. Most DEs offer a keybinding function. If you rather do it separately (independently) from your DE, you can use sxhkd (you need to install it) or xbindkeys. None of this is distro dependent. https://dev-random.net/make-...

Re: Debian 12 does not properly shutdown nor reboot
You can try to get a better shutdown by logging out your dekstop to the lightdm screen (step 1); from the lightdm screen (step 2) execute shutdown or reboot (your preference). I have experienced a similar problem to yours on multiple Debian and arch distros. The above procedure has made the process ...

If you are unhappy trusting to a simple file/ folder copy, use a tool like Timeshift to perform a more sophisticated style of backup.

That can be accomplished by using dropbox setting or nautilus-dropbox assuming you don't feel like using dropbox status in a terminal window.

You might try this bar as well... I found it worked best for me (not to be confused with working well).

FWIW there are 'a few' undocumented' features in the bar as well.

If you like ratpoison you can also try sdorfehs (starfish). It's pretty well documented and runs well on Debian.
