I'll go with sway, bar : yambar or sfwbar. To manage opened windows, there is swayr, really great for floating windows.

[Solved] Configuring package's source code then repackage.
So, I want to configure mlterm package to use wayland instead of X11, it's done by configure it with "./configure --with-gui=wayland", will my configuration be overridden by debian's packaging command (debuild)? Is there a method to package a compiled software into debian package? Thanks.

[SOLVED] Enlightenment's Wayland session on debian.
I'm trying to get used to with wayland (using hikari wm as daily driver), I found enlightenment has wayland session, so I try it out. The developers state that wayland session on enlightenment is experimental, yeah it's indeed experimental, I can't launch many QT apps / many of them are segmentation...

Re: Chromium with wayland native's feature.
Don't blame the compositor's developer! they did offer "xwayland" feature" but I disable it. Hope the chromium package maintainer (from debian) will implement native wayland support.seeker5528 wrote: ↑2021-10-27 16:52 Maybe it is a victim of compositor developers being slow agree on and adopt standards.

Re: Chromium with wayland native's feature.
If you tried on plasma wayland, indeed it works, perhaps because plasma wayland has xwayland. I tried on pure wayland session (hikari wm and xwayland disable) , it complaints about x display.

Re: Chromium with wayland native's feature.
According to this post https://forums.debian.net/viewtopic.php?p=739899#p739899 the Wayland support should automatically work when $XDG_SESSION_TYPE is set to Wayland. That's my comment BTW :) , it just works with qutebtowser (even sometimes qutebtowser are able to run natively without it) not chro...

Re: Bullseye Sway setup Waybar
If you want full wayland , no more xwayland, these are stuffs I collect and still trying : - browser : qutebrowser (run natively if you start sway with XDG_SESSION_TYPE=wayland dbus-run-session sway). chromium will run with ozone flags. Epiphany & netsurf also run natively. - video player : mpv,...

Re: Devuan to Debian and sysvinit to systemd.
Check if dbus-X11 got installed. You could try tasksel to fill in things. Installed, even I replace it with debian's package. still no luck, dbus-aemon running but when I enter openbox, I still can't move cursor can't use keyboard, All I can do is perform REISUB and REISUO to restart or shutdown. I...

Things I notice after the change are : dbus failed to start and still can't be started yet. My machine got freeze when switch to graphical interface (DE or WM), I don't know but I am enough sure dbus (dbus-daemon cause it) Some environtment variables got unset e.g. XDG_RUNTIME_DIR, etc. I guess I ne...

Re: Devuan to Debian and sysvinit to systemd.
Thanks, I did it, I made it. Finally, I can replace devuan's init with systemd (to gain experience only) and I probably changed it into debian bullseye. I am able to boot. Step I took were : Make sure all stuffs update Change repo (from devuan testing to debian bullseye. Install systemd (devuan forb...
