Re: Sound Keeps cutting out on Bluetooth earbuds

It turns out this is a known issue, not confined to Debian. The WIFI adaptor, in my case a RTL8852BE PCIe 802.11ax Wireless Network Controller, is the cause. From the research I did the 2.4-GHz channel being used is the culprit. Checking, I was on channel 6 and I changed to channel 11 and fixed the ...

Sound Keeps cutting out on Bluetooth earbuds

HP Probook 455 G9. Newly set up with Trixie and Cinnamon 5.8.4, JBL wave beam bluetooth earbuds. Simple issue, I hope. The earbuds pair fine, the audio is good but keeps cutting out for a couple of seconds; good for 5-6 seconds then cuts again for a couple of seconds. Repeat. The earbuds don't unpai...

Keyboard Problem - Switching profiles

I have an HP Probook 455 G9. Newly set up with Trixie and Cinnamon 5.8.4 on a clean install having removed W11 on purchase. It works well except for one annoying issue. I have two keyboard layout profiles installed. English (US) and English (Australia). Basically the same profile. At least once a da...

Re: So many fonts … but why, oh why ?

Not to hijack the thread but I agree with OP. There are way too many fonts. Noto is a particular pain, but it is linked to Cinnamon so a separate issue. This is a problem when using E.G. Libreoffice which listed every font available. I think there needs to be language packs as part of the install pr...

Re: Installing Deb 11 Over MS 11. EXTREMELY ANXIOUS

Download Debian 12 Live. Put on a Ventoy USB stick and boot with that. If everything works install from Live install. Let Calamares do its thing, use complete drive etc

Re: [Software] Nemo Extensions

Thanks for that. But, I already knew all of those from Synaptic. There are many other extensions for NEMO. It is a repo for those I am looking for.

Re: fstab issue connecting Synology shared folder

A little late to this one but. I have my Synology NAS connected to my laptop and desktop. Set up to auto mount on system start. My methodology was to enable NFS on NAS then on Linux: sudo apt install nfs-common Create shared folder on NAS, E.G. MyStuff Create a target directory for mount point, and ...

Re: Trying to create a bootable Debian SD card

Try using Ventoy - https://www.ventoy.net/en/index.html rather than creating a single bootable medium. I have it on a 64gb flash drive with multiple ISOs for various uses, not sure of its use on an SD card, but cannot see why it would not work. When you boot to it you get a menu of all the ISOs to c...

Re: Status of cinnamon in debian and future development

My experience: Debian 11 w/- Cinnamon, Blueman DOES NOT WORK. I have spent hours trying to get it to work, it 'sees' the remote device but will not connect. It will not display the pairing number, ever, so gives up after a couple of minutes of trying. Finally I deleted Blueman and installed Blueberr...

Re: Creating Debian Live or NetInst USB

I have started using Ventoy - https://ventoy.net For me, it has been the best solution for creating a live .iso and buring it to a USB. I especially like that one USB can hold multiple .iso files I thought the 'multiple .iso files sounded interesting so though I would have a play with it. Unfortuna...

Only just returned to the Debian universe so slow on this. I use Balena Etcher with good results to quickly and easily burn to USB drives https://www.balena.io/etcher/

OK, that worked. Thanks very much. Something new I have learned today. It even displays toner levels, so I am happy with that. Cheers.

Debian 11 - Cannot use Canon Printer [SOLVED]

Debian 11 newly installed with Cinnamon, non-free. Canon WiFi connected TS 5060 printer. Cups and Admin/printer settings recognised. Drivers installed OK with a Canon .Deb file. Have done this a dozen times with a couple of distros including most recently Mint 20.2. Usual, install drivers, printer r...

Re: Dual boot - LOST GRUB

I have had this problem trying to dual boot UEFI Win 10 and MINT. Can't see why the solution isn't going to work which was to abandon Grub altogether. I think GRUB is well past it's use by date anyway. So, boot with whatever Debian live CD you prefer. Install rEFInd bootloader --> https://www.rodsbo...

Remote access to Synology NAS

I am starting to think this cannot be done but.... I have a Synology NAS DS918+. I can access it locally fine. I FSTAB auto mount the required shares when my machine boots and I have normal access through NEMO. If I am away, Synology have a remote access ability through QuickConnect. Set up an accou...

Re: Status of cinnamon in debian and future development

I have just, as in the last 24 hours returned to Debian after about 10 years. Woody was my first attempt but I think my inexperience killed too many installations as I fiddled with, usually my main nemesis, networking and wireless. I then went to openSUSE and used it very successfully for many years...
