Went ahead and did the dist-upgrade, all I had to install was gnome and evolution, so that wasn't so bad.

Re: [Testing - Trixie] apt dist-upgrade wants to remove half of my system
I wish they would get the train wreck that dist-upgrade is right now fixed. It wants to remove gnome, and evolution just to name a few. I guess I could go ahead to do dist-upgrade and reinstall what it removes, but that sounds like a pain in the butt.

So how do you install it? apt install firefox won't do it.

You shouldn't use foreign repositories, eventually you will break Debian.

It looks like the issue is resolved, apt dist-upgrade looks sane again.

[Testing - Trixie] apt dist-upgrade wants to remove half of my system
Be careful, I don't know what's going on but apt dist-upgrade wants to remove Gnome and Nautilus and a bunch of other stuff. I will wait and see if it gets corrected before doing any upgrading.
Just saying be careful out there!

Re: [Hardware] Any advice on a good laptop to run Debian 12.5
I'm running Debian testing on an HP Envy x360 15-fh0xxx laptop with an amd gpu and a Realtek RTL8852CE wireless adapter. Everything worked from the first install except the sound. The audio chip is not fully supported by the kernel.
Good luck,

Re: Which laptop do YOU run Debian on?
Hi,
I'm running Debian testing on an HP Envy x360 15-fh0xxx laptop with an amd gpu and a Realtek RTL8852CE wireless adapter. Everything worked from the first install except the sound. I have headphones only as my audio chip is not fully supported by the kernel.
Good luck,

Apt listed several old kernels that could be removed with apt autoremove.

Re: [Testing - Trixie] Evolution 3.50.3-1 address book is read only
I removed the evolution folders in .cache .config and .local Than did apt purge evolution and evolution-data-server. Then did apt install evolution and typed evolution in the cli. It remembered the accounts and address book, and it's still read only. I'm not using a contacts book so there's nothing ...

Re: [Testing - Trixie] Evolution 3.50.3-1 address book is read only
When I set up evolution I let it do all of the configuring. Supposedly the data is in .config/share/evolution but I'll be damned if I can find the address book file. I have scrounged up an SQLite GUI app to change it from read only if I could just find it.

I use Gnome, but it takes a little customization to be useable. Gnome-shell-extensions application menu and dash-to-dock.

If you do a dist-upgrade it will tell you what it's going to do and you can always say no if it's going to remove packages.
