All of the best common practices are on that a suggestion and nothing else. There's also recommended that you try to come as close to them as possible so that your information security can't come under fire from unwanted attack.

To avoid these kind of issues I keep my Work Station on cse/lagacy mode instead of UFEI as it allows me to have virtually painless installation and upgrade paths haven't had any where near the issues the the OP has mentioned. On the other hand I've also got a newer ThinkPad X1 Carbon on which I'm st...

Re: [Debian News] proxmox Platinum Sponsor of DebConf24
It's sp good to see that certain commercial entities whom make their bread and butter by build their software solutions on-top of FOSS software bases. I wish that Moore corporate entities would follow Proxmoxs' lead and become active in supporting FOSS projects.

Re: gdm3 stopped working after hardware update
I'd recommend that the OP try and grab the X11 and waylaid startup log files which usefully reside at /var/logs/X11 and /var/log/wayland. And either post them to the the debian 'ysers forums useing the code tags or to the following https://pastebin.com/.

Re: [Software] Install VirtualBox
I think that it would be beneficial if the OP consider using the fastback,debain.net package archive, as it tends to have the newest releases of YirtualBox that have been thoroughly back the Debian community.
I've had great sucess using the verion of Virtual box from the aforementioned repository.
