what if you tried to follow the the steps here for nvidia drivers

them at least we would know where you are

you also say you messed around without quite detailing what you actually did. as root, posting history | grep nvidia might also help

i notice you don't have xserver-xorg-video-nvidia installed

were you previously running the nvidia drivers?

should that be stable/updates or bookworm-security?

that shows nvidia-detect is installed. what happens when you run it?

as root, can you run history | grep nvidia

for instance besides files i had created (which are on the cloud any way), from a system point of view i recently copied /etc. and also some stuff from /usr
