Agreed. A few days pinning wouldn't do any harm, right?
That is, I assume that the first Ubuntu release got the same attention and approval and pinning time on this forum.

The only problem I had in Gnome 3 is that it can't do without Evolution.
Or has that changed?

Good idea. It is way too long ago already that a person subscribed to this forum only to slam the OS because of systemd.Segfault wrote:How about this conspiracy theory: Poettering is an agent of NSA, systemd has built-in backdoors for NSA to use, Debian was forced to use systemd by NSA.

Re: A new UEFI gottcha
I have learnt from the start that this command will wipe your system completely anyway. In some forums it is even forbidden to mention "rm -rf /" because readers may copy-paste this command and destroy a complete system.
So how different is this from what already was a stupid action anyway?

Re: Dutch government: Encryption good, backdoors bad
The Dutch government. Remind me. Who did they ever liberate? Who did they ever defend? How much of the free world did they ever protect? Quite a bit actually. Ever heard of the 30-Years War or the 80-Years War? They also defended themselves as much as possible (which wasn't much) in the horrific bl...

Re: Why do 'developers' always insist on 'fixing' that which
My point remains, though. Why change it? Maybe because the search through the button has better results than the quick search box? I used to have this experience in my Ubuntu era (so pre-2008) where I found that the quick search box worked quite crappy whereas the button search actually found thing...

Re: (auto)mounting a NAS (newbie)
If it is a Seagate NAS with Linux under the hood, can't you connect through NFS? I have a Seagate Business NAS myself and NFS works like a charm. You just have to define shared folders on the NAS through the NAS control panel, define the shares and assign client IP's. Mounting from Linux is for exam...

The scary part, when I was looking at the gnome site, and the review, all sorts of "features" , but where is the command prompt, ? Looks a lot like a windows screen to me, I wouldn't be able to use a display manager like that. I don't want to jump into defense but the windows-like screen ...

Re: Ecce Lennart
Linux users have less say in the direction of Linux, than Windows users have in the direction of Windows. It is Linux developers (be it kernel, or userland) who have ALL the power. They answer to none but themselves. At least Microsoft with Windows has to care for the users, in order to stop losing...

Re: Jessie and Debians future.
It appears that devuan is very close to release, and if my reads are correct, it seems to be "traditional linux", and should be very stable compared to systemd debian. Well, "systemd debian" is running quite smoothly here, so I don't see the point in stating upfront that devuan ...

You cannot blame us, critics of systemd, for choosing an alternative that is already qualified for use as it passed its tests with good marks. :? I, for one, wouldn't blame anybody. I must say though that people who choose the mentioned alternative are all over the place and almost impossible to av...
