Many online news portals have links for RSS feeds. Can PAN newsreader be configured for RSS feeds?
I am aware that Evolution can be configured for RSS feeds. But Evolution email client takes a lot of HDD space, about 129MB. PAN is much lighter, only 4311 kB in HDD.
Any advice please?

[Software] ?Stop Lock screen when screensaver activates
used lxsession-edit.desktop and turned off the Screen Locker . But this doesn't solve the problem when a system is restarted from a 'Suspend'. Restarted from "Suspend", the system shows a login screen. May be it is good in some cases where there is a possibility for a laptop to be stolen. ...

I’d question the official nature of that iso. To my knowledge no official iso had unity. Don’t think it was ever even available in Debian proper. I’d do a fresh install with verified media. I could be wrong It is Gnome Wayland Session, as reported by the system. Screenshot could be perused. . I sai...

Re: [Installation] The nightmare of another upgrade
You are in the best position to evaluate the state of your installation and to decide which way is the best for you, of course. Actually, I was concerned about your getting jaded by reading and rre-eading my posts and your trying to figure out the issue in order for you to support me. So I wasn't t...

Re: [Installation] The nightmare of another upgrade
Thank you, Aki, for your thorough post, but please preserve your efforts, as I shall require your help. I had already said that the plan was a Lost Cause without saying as much. Your note not to edit the previous post is fully agreed upon and is generally followed. I edited 3-4 words to make the pos...

Re: [Installation] How to determine the version for Debian if the menu.cfg lines are edited to remove original versions
... The file /etc/debian_version should be in Debian Stretch (9.x), too: see [1]. It's in the base-files package that is an essential package of debian installation. Therefore, this let me suppose that your installation is missing something. I should inform that this issue is on a separate laptop o...

Re: [Installation] How to determine the version for Debian if the menu.cfg lines are edited to remove original versions
Thank you, Aki, for posting your reply. Strangely enough, debian stretch 9.11 doesn't throw any result for either cat /etc/debian_version or lsb_release -a From the root terminal, the 2nd one throws up: No LSB modules are available. Distributor ID: Debian Description: Debian GNU/Linux (n/a) Release:...

[Installation] How to determine the version for Debian if the menu.cfg lines are edited to remove original versions
This is a question that I have been considering for some time. Suppose that I remove the original lines of grub.cfg mentioning the version of Debian. Is there any other means to know what the version is, many years hence? There is a package called debian-distro-info -fsc but it doesn't say much. Say...

[Installation] The nightmare of another upgrade
I had downloaded a live iso almost two years back (17th March 2021), debian-live-10.8.0-amd64-lxde.iso. While it used lxde in the live mode, when installed on the HDD it presented a Unity desktop which is not as easy as lxde, with which I have been familiar for more than a decade because of Knoppix ...

Re: [Software] programs accessing internet only with permission firewall
I have never used containers nor network namespaces. I only know they allow to run processes in execution environments with separated network stacks (interfaces, addresses, routes, firewall rules...). If a process runs in a container or network namespace with no network interface, it cannot access ...

Re: [Software] programs accessing internet only with permission firewall
You do not need a virtual machine for this, it can be done with a container or a network namespace without any real network interface.
