Re: Does the name of an OS matter for you?

Not really, Debian is a silly name that's made of Debra&Ian (and as far as I understand Debra and Ian were not very successful anyway since they divorced). Or MEPIS... doesn't mean anything, it came out from a misunderstanding, at least Ubuntu is the name of a nice concept in an African language...

Re: Debian Forum for children

Mocking other distro's doesn't belong on a forum of a linux distro who consider itself as an example to other distro's. Mocking or insulting other distributions, does not honor the Debian distribution. The problem with err... Ubuntoo is Canonical, and GNU/Linux is about free software without corpor...

Re: Mixing Stable with sid

If you mix Stable with Sid you get unstable  It depends what you want to do though, if you absolutely need a package from Sid and that doesn't pull too many dependencies then you can probable install it, but if you want to do that regularly is not a good idea, just use Sid (but you have to acc...

I've heard that some "real" debian users left this forum, this made me want to give it another chance.

Re: ext3 or ext4? bash or dash?

I just want to add that I've been using ext4 since it has been declared stable in the kernel and never had problems, it's faster than ext3 (especially the fsck).

Re: Ok OK

I, for one, think you are the most idiotic moderator that I've ever seen on any forums. Beside being illiterate that you make people who speak English as the third language cringe, I think you also lack the minimum IQ to understand posts... how did you end up being a moderator here is a mystery. Is ...

Re: Ok OK

One could easily filter out the e-mail notifications from the forum. I still don't get the point of asking to be banned, as I said, if you want to stop using the forum then... guess what.... don't use it, no need to ask moderators to ban you, that looks just like theater to me. Oh, on another forum ...

Re: Arch fanbois look away now

The tests were related to actual tasks that people (explicitly) and applications and services (implicitly) perform every day when the computer is being used. They actually seem to have tested crunching numbers, but they didn't test things that people associate with "speedy OS": 1. boot ti...

Re: Google Chrome for Debian LXDE 5.0r0

google-chrome-stable Version: 5.0.375.55-r47796
google-chrome-beta Version: 5.0.375.55-r47796 Hm the same weird.
They declared it stable, I suspect the beta version will change in the future (or actually they might drop it and keep only stable and unstable branches)

Now can I have my account deleted?
How about not logging in and going away, is that not sufficient for you? Or is the allure of the forum too strong and you can't go away by your own will...

As I said, put it in /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins (or iceweasel) directory, Chrome should pick it up from there, you need to restart Chrome.

Re: Getting Flash to work in Chrome 64bit

Don't know why it doesn't work for you, but you can always download it from Adobe: http://download.macromedia.com/pub/labs/flashplayer10/libflashplayer-10.0.45.2.linux-x86_64.so.tar.gz Unpack it and put the .so file in /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins (or something like that) from where Google Chrome will p...

Re: Arch fanbois look away now

Starting the thread in off topic does not constitute trolling Didn't claim that. I commented in this thread because I found it interesting. Nor does pointing out that Shadowking's post is irrelevant. Maybe not trolling, but a perfect recipe to derail, ironically, your own thread. If you find a post...

What do you try to insinuate, read my first post on this thread, it was pertinent and at the object, read your first post (and actually all the posts) in this thread and compare.

Re: convert ext3 to ext4

I haven't seen any stability problems, I use ext4 on two computers since it was introduced as "stable" in the kernel. fsck is much faster. So, at least in my experience I saw benefits and no drawback.

HTML5 plays fine here in Chrome, not sure what's your problem, just saying that it should work fine.
