CC=/usr/bin/gcc-4.3 ./nvidia-installer.sh
or something like that.

Re: Touchpad stucked

Try "lsusb -k" to see what driver it's using, then try unloading and unloading the module (driver) manually to see it that can unstick it.
You may have to learn how to open a terminal with keyboard only to do that, though.

Re: Settings Display Laptop ?

You need nonfree firmware for AMD GPUs to work correctly. The package is in a repository section that's not enabled by default in standard Debian, nonfree. Check this current thread for a novice solving a very similar issue: viewtopic.php?p=742103#p742103

Just a suggestion--use xfce4-whiskermenu-plugin instead. Much better.

Re: Debian11-Cant change brightness on imac 2015

So, I would guess that's a video driver or processor issue...yet you give us no hardware information. Maybe you just need some firmware, but we don't know!

install inxi and report the output of "inxi -G", please.

Re: Linux kernel: how to enable item CONFIG_DMA_ENGINE

I'm curious as to why you're rebuilding it without the Debian patches, too. Are you trying to eak out some more performance or something?

Re: iMac A1225 - Wi-Fi driver/s for Debian.

If you have the correct broadcom DKMS driver (i.e. broadcom-wl-dkms) installed and your wifi card is still not being recognised, try rebuilding the driver (See Dynamic Kernel Module Support). That package is in the nonfree section of the repos, nonfree usually must be added manually to your sources...

I thought the appimage should not need the external system libjpeg package--that's kind of the whole point.

Did you test that?

Re: Missing firmware

Please do a websearch for those two warning messages and report back (in detail) what you found, as the guide to asking for help on this forum clearly asks you to do before posting. I know there are plenty of Linux hits for those.

Or spend a bit of money to get a used card that's supported by the drivers, yet not desirable to the currency miners.

Re: [Solved] How to ask for apps.

If you want them in the official Debian repos, you should file a bug report for the program as a "WTP" (want the package?). Remember that Debian has a strict policy about what packages can be added to the main repo--read the Debian Free Software Guidelines. I really have major doubts about...

Huh. Backported Bullseye-compatible MX 21 packages aren't that hard to build once you get the hang of it: http://mxrepo.com/mx/testrepo/pool/test/v/virtualbox/

Code: Select all

apt upgrade -t experimental gnome*
Is that the best way?
I can try on the VM.
Sure, give it a try. See how much smoke comes out.

Re: I need a system call to change the desktop background

I know that Variety (in the repos) has to handle KDE differently than most of the other desktops. Maybe you could take a look at its Python code to see how Peter Levi handled it.

Without backporting it yourself?

Backup your system, add the LMDE repository, upgrade Cinnamon, and see how much smoke comes out.

Re: Debian 12 or 13 available, or that is "sid"??

Rebuilding a Debian kernel with a few changes is not too difficult, once you know where some critical configuration files are in the debian folder (mostly in /config), and sort of understand the Debian packaging procedure. I could walk you through it cargo-cult style, but that's not teaching much. S...
