Re: FYI
Ok, a short explanation then :) I have to quit 'the job' strictly due to personal/ medical reasons. It has nothing to do what so ever with this forum or any person on this forum. Come on... it'll take more than you guys to break me ;) And no, I'm not dying :) Thanks for the support and kind words on...

AFAIK it only ask that after it has quit unexpectedly. A reboot shuts it down gracefully and it behaves as if you had closed it normally.

Re: Future of Linux on the desktop - I am worried
This thread just really brings to air the deep stink buried within linux zealots and fanboys. And its name is RoyFokker, known to his friends as DomFokker. I'm sorry, I can't help my self. Very off topic: This was (supposedly) heard during a tour, held in English by the Dutch guide, of the old Fokk...

Re: At last, a distro well targeted to attract users
meet many straight guys in lesbian bars...??? which bar would that be and about what time are you there??? Well, only the occasional geek that for some bizarre reason think it's the ideal place to pick up women. Come to think about it... that could be the reason so many geeks seem to be single. Hon...

Re: At last, a distro well targeted to attract users
There is some odd stuff on distrowatch. The targeted distro "lesbian" has porn-get as a package manager frontend. The website is kind of old, so links are probably dead. I'm against pr0nz and all that, but what do you think of the logo? http://lesbian.mine.nu/ I think the t-shirts are awe...

Re: out of disk space?
One of the common reasons is that apt's cache is never cleaned out. Apt caches all the .deb files and that can quickly eat your disc space. To clear it:
Code: Select all
apt-get clean

Re: sudo setup
To setup sudo you should edit the /etc/sudoers file by using the visudo command but you can also edit it by opening the file in your favorite editor. Maybe you should add that visudo actually do some syntax checking of your sudoers file before saving it. You miss out on that feature if you edit it ...

Re: getting the finger every time I read a thread
I don't know about you but this is tiresome, I'm against censorship in general but having pictures even of babies giving you the finger is not witty is just plain stupid -- and that's become annoying and tiresome (seeing stupidity over and over again). You can not be serious!?? A baby giving you th...

Re: Please Help-Really Don't Know What Has Happened
You just decided to quit and switch of the computer mid upgrade? Seriously? No joke? There is no way to tell what state your system is in. Apt obviously recommend to get rid of Joomla so that's probably what you should do first. I would try the 'gentler' ways of fixing the system first then ...
