Your solution requires the OP to buy another car stereo. That's a ridiculous answer.

Do you mean when you use the BIOS boot manager?

The point that it fails to install GRUB, did you remember to create an Efi System Partition?

Re: I can never get USBs to work with Linux...

2019, usbs are pretty much becoming outdated, Debian still struggles immensely just to format and use usb drives. Where did you get that information from? USB is not outdated. And Debian has never struggled with formatting USB drives in the 10+ years I've been using it regardless of whether I use C...

Why? I haven't got notify-osd in my autostart. And I wouldn't think that it would need an autostart entry either.

What driver is Mint using? Can you be sure it's the correct one? It might be using VESA.

@dajames:
Is your video card an nVidia GeForce 6150. Is that AGP based or PCI-Express? It sounds old to me, so I'm guessing AGP.
AGP based cards are no longer supported by nVidia nor ATI/AMD.

I see nothing in the man pages as what its default output format is. Would the locale affect it 12/24 hour?

Nice find, Chris. I wasn't aware of barrier.
Is there any impact on performance removing barrier=0 afterwards?

Can you read other temperature sensors like CPU, video, etc. Could your CPU be getting hot and causing the SSD to get hot if it's close to it?.

Re: Debian 9 not loading after trying o install nvidia drive

When it suggested you reboot, you should have done just that. All would have been fine. Also, when you ran this command: apt-get remove --purge '^nvidia-.*' ... did you check what it was removing? Using wildcards like that can lead to removing something you need if you're not careful. I suggest rein...

Re: bash script to perform an action

What I'm struggling with is the special characters you're adding. There doesn't appear to be a pattern. That is, if you always have 4 parameters, I can see how they're added. But what about 30 as you suggested? How do they get added then? The parameters in curly brackets have a different syntax to t...

Re: bash script to perform an action

The task is to build a command to then run in terminal. The command is supposed to have a variable number of parameters. Those parameters are inside a file, one parameter per line. So there is a file, which has one parameter per line, and you want to pass all those parameters to one command. And th...
