Re: Debian testing fails at Installing the Base System
I ran into the same issue a few days ago. I don't know if we share the same hardware, or if it is a more general bug. As you have attached a log, you are probably aware that you can drop out of the installer and view system messages in a console. Testing does have bugs sometimes, including the insta...

Re: [Software] Is there a way to make firefox and chromium behavior the same?
Thank you for letting us know the solution you found. I'm not using Gnome at the moment, but I suspect there are other ways of achieving the same behaviour, by editing Gnome settings in a terminal, using a GUI settings manager like gconf-editor, or a general Gnome configuration manager like Gnome Tw...

Re: Laptop microphone not working after restart (Dell XPS 9315) (Bookworm)
Is the microphone digital? You might need to select the digital microphone option in pavucontrol and the analogue option for speakers. Install pavucontrol if you don't have it and investigate what options are available. If that doesn't work, please post output of the following: $ inxi -Fxxxmprz You ...

Re: Sound card suddenly not recognized in Debian 12
Hi, I looked for a guide on how to downgrade kernel but I am not sure I undestand it, do you have something to link please? At the grub menu, use the down arrow to select Advanced options (you only have three seconds). https://i.postimg.cc/YvcRJrqf/screen.jpg You should then have the option to boot...

Re: [Testing - Trixie] apt dist-upgrade wants to remove half of my system
There seems to be a package update car crash in Testing at the moment. I would take @ttilla's excellent advice and hold off on removing anything for a few days until the dependency issues are resolved. Thanks mrjcd for the advice on what to do if wanted packages are removed. It is “urgent to wait”, ...

Re: [trixie] upgrading libbpf1 requires uninstalling a bunch of other packages
Things are constantly moving in testing. It is often “urgent to wait”, sometimes a few days, for the matter to be resolved. Wonderful, and very apt (pun intended)! Is it from French, "il est urgent d'attendre"? (That's from a web search, I don't speak French). I've never heard it in Engli...

Re: Sound not working in Debian 12
You could try comparing various outputs from the live image and your install and seeing what is different. $ aplay -l $ amixer $ pacmd list-sinks (Should work now you are using PulseAudio.) # dmesg | grep 'sof\|snd\|audio\|firmware' As it's working in the live image, it could just be a configuration...

Re: [Testing - Trixie] Why some packages are not upgraded?
Updates to Testing were held up for weeks I think due to fixing the year 38 issue; now they are all coming down at once. Best to wait a few days as sunrat suggested. I think I borked my Testing install trying to push them through. Oh well!

Re: Pulseaudio components
I have removed all except xfce4-pulseaudio-plugin:amd64 0.4.5-1 amd64 Xfce4 panel plugin to control pulseaudio which I belief is the volume control on XFCE. Is there a Pipewire control to replace the XFCE Pipewire is not the default for XFCe debian 12 ? PulseAudio is still the default for XFCE in B...

Re: XFCE: some questions about xfce4-keyboard-shortcuts
It might be worth searching the XFCE forum for an answer, and posting the question there if you can't find one. Whenever I have an issue with XFCE, I can usually find the answer there already. They know XFCE inside out.

Re: [Installation] New install, no gui
Does this laptop have the Novo button? Does it get you into the BIOS?

If you can't get the BIOS screen, it suggests hardware failure.
