Re: NetworkManager Keeps Disconnecting and Reconnecting
With this result, I can say that the problem is the router itself, but as the problem was not completely resolved, it makes me think that these adjustments only improved the connection and the problem still remains hidden. Many years ago I had a laptop that frequently dropped WiFi connections. I sp...

Re: [Off-Topic] The impossible Debians 12 and 11!!!
I'm still using Debian 10 Buster. It works and I see no reason to upgrade. I have some older software that won't run on newer versions. @Linuxgaming1824 "if you're not using a live iso to do your installs you're not doing it right." I do installs using a tiny CD or USB and then add what I ...

I'm cheating here on the first two. I'm still using Debian 10 which has them.

Re: Root password strength
The other end of this thread is what happens if your computer/laptop/phone is lost/stolen. I suggest that you don't put anything on your computer that you aren't prepared to share with the world. If your router/modem has security settings set it for maximum protection. It won't cost you anything to ...

Re: [Discussion] What change, if implemented, would cause you to leave Debian?
Forced adoption of systemd . . . Agreed. As long as Debian allows me the freedom to use my machines the way I want, with the software I want, without undue interference from proprietary software or corporate overlords, I'll be using some version or derivative of it. The moment that goes away, so do...

Re: [Discussion] Psychoanalysing proponents of two wheels
Many years ago I was driving on northern highway, following a couple on a big road bike (Harley or Goldwing; I can't remember). Everything was smooth driving until a black bear tore up out of a ditch and charged the motorcycle. The biker slammed on his brakes and downshifted raising a lot of dust an...

Re: VirtualBox vs 'another user account'.
I've done both and find virtual to be easier. It can be useful to create a virtual install and then transfer data into it from your host. It's very easy to compare when you have both running. There are some issues, such as hardware, that you can only test with a bootable USB.

Re: Installing a needed package that isn't in Debian repos
Most, if not all, of us have installed a non-Debian package. The important thing to remember is to block the repo after installing. If you leave a source open every time you do an upgrade you can have little surprises sneaking in.

Vacuum tube diodes. ... and TV's radios for that matter. Diodes, triodes and a slew of other configurations. My parents had one of those entertainment consoles with AM radio, shortwave and a turntable for records. I loved trolling the shortwave but much of it was in Morse code and unintelligible to...

Re: How to diagnose system "freezes"?
@techsavvy: Did you make any progress ? Negative. Years ago I had a faulty mother board that caused random system freezes. I found it by searching the Internet for that particular mother board looking for problems and freezes came up. Change the cheap stuff first and do the obvious but keep in mind...
