Re: Etiology of the name "Wheezy" for Debian 7

Re: Distrowatch

I actually do tend to check Distrowatch every other day or so. I'm always curious to see what is new and what not. I'm always trying new distributions in Virtual Box but none of them give me reason to leave my current Debian install.

Re: What would make you leave Debian?

If security ever became an issue in the Linux world. I'm sure I would consider a BSD flavor if I had old enough hardware.

ON your website you have a single screen shot:

I have to ask since I'm a bit puzzled. I'm not looking at GNOME, am I?

Re: Hi I'm New...

What about the Unofficial Maintainers repository? http://unofficial.debian-maintainers.org/ Does anyone beside me use it? From the top of the page at that site (bottom of the About): Note: This repository will not be updated anymore. After the squeeze release, it will be removed in favour o...

What are you looking for? I would strongly discourage enabling all of those repositories.

Re: Xfce 4.8 has been released

Excuse my ignorance of these matters, but I thought backports would deal with stuff like this: I mean, won't Xfce 4.8 be available as a squeeze backport once squeeze is released? That's what I was thinking anyway... If anything, I would think it would be in Unstable once Squeeze is released. Once i...

Re: Misuse of sudo

There was another thread a while back discussing sudo. At the time I would use sudo off and on when I needed it. When I would need root privlages for just a moment I would use sudo. However, if I was going to be needing root for a while I would use su. Now, it's been a few weeks since that thread an...

Re: TheMusicBay.org

Or there's Foobnix and its magical music downloads: http://www.webupd8.org/2010/09/foobnix-very-interesting-new-local-and.html Packaged it for a Lenny-based distro's community repo, but chickened out actually adding it--it makes getting almost any song too simple. The RIAA would not be amused. Mayb...
