Re: Hep with debootstrap and /sys directory

Never mind, I finally understood why Libre Computer provides an image based on MBR rather than GPT, it is perhaps to avoid this very same chicken-in-the-egg problem... 🤔

Hep with debootstrap and /sys directory

Hi folks, I have a pebcak trying to bootstrap Debian on a SBC ARM64 , when it is time to install GRUB into a CHROOT environment: if I previously mounted /sys (and /sys/firmware/efi/efivars ) the process fails cause /sys/* is (correctly) mounted read-only; while if I do not mount /sys , it doesn't no...

Re: [BOOKWORM] How to completely disable IPv6?

You can also place record net.ipv6.conf.default.disable_ipv6=1 in /etc/sysctl.confand enter command as root sysctl -p See /proc/sys/net. This method did not work. So what do you want to achieve that disabling IPv6 from grub will not allow ? The ipv6 kernel module is compiled as a built-in part of t...

[Solved] [BOOKWORM] How to completely disable IPv6?

Hello there, is there a way to completely disable IPv6? So far the only working method I found is adding ipv6.disable=1 to GRUB ; however this workaround doesn't block it completely, it only prevents to be used. The point is I don't run an ISP, I don't need IPv6, I don't want to see IPv6 utterly com...

Re: How to Cut Down the Power to the Laptop Webcam?

(..) it has already melted the plastic that covers it. This means that the IR camera has an internal shortcut in its power section - this cannot be solved by any software tricks - if You want to keep this laptop alive, I would suggest to cut the power physically (disconnecting/cutting the cables) O...

Re: How to Cut Down the Power to the Laptop Webcam?

Re: How to Cut Down the Power to the Laptop Webcam?

TLP disables the webcam but doesn't cut the energy. Unfortunately there isn't any bios setup for this, so I tried to unplug the camera but the cable is bonded with cable of the screen; this means that my only option is to cut the cable but without schematics is a risk because I may cut the wrong one...

Re: How to Cut Down the Power to the Laptop Webcam?

Thanks! This is worth to try!

Actually TLP is already installed, maybe it has enough granular control to disable the webcam, I'll definitely look into it!

How to Cut Down the Power to the Laptop Webcam?

Hi folks, my son made fall down the laptop againat school but this time the laptop came out with serious consequences. Mysteriously the IR camera which nobody has known its existence till today is constantly on, and it is literally burning the chassis. Besides being risky for him or other kids, this...

Overriding a systemd unit to fix an issue with tethering

Hi guys, the kind systemd is trying to mount a webdav resource but since is dumb it doesn't realize it needs to wait for tethering to be active before trying to reach the remote resource. By the other hands I am dumb too because I don't know how to tell it to wait for the network to raise up the usb...

Re: Debian 11: random reboots, no clue!

We removed almost all the USB extra devices however it looks like the situation is getting worst. I have started thinking it may be an issue with the power unit and I asked him to use a Debian Live and check if the issue happens the same.

Re: Another bluetooth not working on debian 11

I had issue for a while with the bluetooth as well, eventually those were fixed through an update. I remember I was able to "talk" through terminal but not to connect to anything, also check the Arch Wiki page: https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Bluetooth You may try to reinstall the package...

Re: Debian 11: random reboots, no clue!

Hi thanks for the catch!

Actually we installed the unattended-upgrade package... May it be the cause?

I am going to uninstall it and check what is going to happen!

Debian 11: random reboots, no clue!

Dear All, my brother's Debian 11 is having an annoying issue: it looks like every time he logs into the session (XFCE, lightDM) and opens Firefox or Zoom the computer reboots mysteriously; usually it happens within 3 or 4 time in a row and then the session becomes stable. Based on my knowledge I cou...

[Testing] Can't get Grub colors working

Hi folks, since testing is again active something has stopped to work, for instance I can't get grub color customization working. https://wiki.debian.org/Grub2#Configure_console_menu_colors I am using the very basic example in the link above but I get always the blue grub menu, any idea? Thanks, Dan...
