Re: [Software] Old Kernels

@ sunrat

Hey, thank you! I ran the command and it showed two kernels. It appears Debian keeps one older kernel and that is fine. Just trying to do things the correct way.

Re: [Software] Old Kernels

I ran apt autoremove and there was nothing to remove. I have 3 kernels since installing. I have seen other distros retain 3 kernels. Trying to keep things cleaned up but I want to do it the correct way.

[Software] SOLVED [Software] Old Kernels

Kind of a dumb question but I have not found documentation yet. How does Debian 12 deal with kernels? What I mean is, does the system keep three kernels and auto remove older kernels or do I need to manually remove them over time? I am sure there is documentation out there, I just have not came acro...

Re: Which is the worst distribution you have tried?

Ubuntu 22.04 was pretty bad. The software center never really worked right, snaps were problematic and lots of graphical glitches no matter the session I chose. I expected an LTS release to be much less bug ridden after a year of use, it was disappointing, especially on supported hardware... Luckily...

Make Rhythmbox look more native.

Happened to come across this and just thought I would share. Installing the rhythmbox-plugin-alternative-toolbar (0.20.3-1) from the repos makes it look a lot better! Also, if you are using dark mode, the legacy (GTK3} scheme auto switcher extension will make Rhythmbox use dark mode. The end result ...

Re: [Discussion] Redhat move to paywall systems

I wonder if this move is towards Oracle? Perhaps other distros are casualties because of it?

[Off-Topic] User's moving to Debian

With all that is going on with Red Hat and Ubuntu it seems many are moving to Debian 12. I wanted to share some Gnome extensions to try and help out new users.Ubuntu user's are used to the dock already being set up. Many of us like this but Debian provides a blank canvas to set up the choices we lik...

I installed the "Legacy (GTK3) Theme Scheme Auto Switcher" extension to fix this.

Re: [Discussion] So ... Debian 12 ... Nightmare or Glorious Bliss? (or you just wish to post ITT with ellipsis ...)

Debian 12 far exceeds all my expectations! Did the network install on 3 systems and not one single problem or anything to fix. I never expected Wayland to work so well! Other distros had me convinced Wayland was still pretty buggy, not the case at all on Debian 12. Everything in Debian 12 was VERY w...

Re: Why do you use debian?

Recently installed Debian 12 on all my systems. The amount of testing that was done really shows! The decision to make non-free software more accessible really makes a huge difference! It took no time at all to set up my systems and so far they run flawlessly. I have confidence that updates are not ...

Re: [bookworm] It has begun. ITS ALIVE! Debian 12 "bookworm" released.

I installed Debian 12 this morning on my HP laptop. I have never been so impressed with a release in all my life! Every single thing works exactly as it should. I am not finding glitches with Wayland, never thought I'd see that! This is an outstanding release! Thank you to all that made this possible!

Re: Kernel 4.1 incredibly fast!!

What is wrong with the OP? Someone can't show any enthusiasm? It was just opinion on the OP's part. Is there really a need for insults here? A perfectly innocent opinion has to turn the topic into a battle ground? What the heck is wrong with some people?
