Re: [Software] sources.list once bullseye goes into LTS

As Aki said most likely you'll be fine. If the spin is configuration and not a custom vanity distro commonly built on ubuntuized libraries then no issue. Upon upgrade it should be obvious, just take note of invalid actions. Synaptic can spell it out for you. You don't have to commit to changes. [/q...

Re: [Software] sources.list once bullseye goes into LTS

My apologies, if my question was misunderstood.

It currently tracks Bullseye. After bookworm is officially released, I want it to continue to track Bullseye, as it will be LTS at that point.

Re: [Software] sources.list once bullseye goes into LTS

Hello. Everything you asked about here is written in their official documentation. Please read this . That information will be obsolete this weekend once Bookworm is released. However, I have not received a reply to my inquiry over at their project's GitHub Discussion, so I will leave the sources.l...

I have since done that. They do not have their own repo or packages. The repos are pure Debian.

[Software] sources.list once bullseye goes into LTS

I installed SpiralLinux which installs the current Debian stable at the time the image was released (in this case, Bullseye) and it also enables Debian Backports by default. It is currently using the backported 6.1 kernel. Where Bullseye will be entering LTS once Bookworm is released later this week...

Re: [SID - Unstable] Pipewire with KDE Plasma

I was able to very carefully remove LXQt and Xfce from this desktop and installed KDE Plasma. Installing the pipewire-audio metapackage, did the trick. I kept LXDE installed, as that was the original image used to install Debian on it and didn't want to unknowingly remove something that shouldn't be.

Re: [SID - Unstable] Pipewire with KDE Plasma

I answered my own question, went through the listing and it does want to reinstall pulseaudio, so I'll leave the desktop as it is and will try Plasma on an external drive.

[SID - Unstable] [SOLVED] Pipewire with KDE Plasma

I was looking at possibly installing KDE Plasma on the desktop where I recently reinstalled Debian Sid. Now that I have Pipewire running on it and another system, when I ran nala and apt to install task-kde-desktop, they want to remove pipewire-alsa and pipewire-audio. Pipewire-audio was just instal...

Re: [SID - Unstable] Switching back to PulseAudio [SOLVED]

On both systems, I installed pipewire-audio (using Synaptic), which took care of the rest. Bluetooth is working on both. :)

Code: Select all

Server Name: PulseAudio (on PipeWire 0.3.65)
Server Version: 15.0.0

Thank you.

[SID - Unstable] Switching back to PulseAudio (switched to Pipewire) [SOLVED]

I had to reinstall Debian Sid because of a hardware issue. Once everything was reinstalled, I discovered Bluetooth didn't work. I did the same steps as outlined in https://forums.debian.net/viewtopic.php?t=154544 , nothing. The Bluetooth dongle will detect the headphones (tried multiple pairs), but ...

Re: [SID - Unstable] [SOLVED] appstream and packagekit

Apparently, all this required to correct, was to first remove appstream, apt-config-icons, packagekit and packagekit-tools, then reinstall them. Done via Synaptic. This also cleared out the remaining two packages from the autoremove list, none are listed now.

[SID - Unstable] [SOLVED] appstream and packagekit

After updating my sid desktops yesterday, apt flagged some packages for autoremove. I opted to keep them installed, because they looked rather important. The following packages will be REMOVED: appstream apt-config-icons libappstream4 libstemmer0d packagekit packagekit-tools Any ideas as to why apt ...

Re: LXQT package also install entire KDE

I started this thread back in December, when I saw numerous Qt-related packages not updating. It was after this, that I discovered that installing the LXQt meta package also included a minimal KDE desktop. Running Synaptic to update packages during that time, eventually removed the excess packages a...

There may be an explanation here re KDE.

Any desktop manager should be able to launch an LXQt session. I have lightdm installed.

Re: Besides 'main, contrib and non-free' now 'non-free-firmware' in sources.list

It is scheduled for bookworm. Non free firmware packages are being moved from non-free to a new section non-free-firmware. If you added non-free only for firmware, you can replace it with non-free-firmware. Thanks for the post. Just added it to sources.list and it retrieved many *-firmware packages...

Re: [SID - Unstable] Apt vs Synaptic

nala is in the Debian repo. I installed it once to see how it did, but it displayed what appeared to be script errors when run, so I removed it. Yeah I don't use it either but thought I'd mention it seeing siduction uses it. It is quite new and has seen significant recent development so may be a di...

Re: [SID - Unstable] Apt vs Synaptic

siduction have actually introduced nala for package management now, so another contender! :D It has weird behaviour of automatically running autoremove which is a Very Bad Idea® IMO but can be disabled in its conf file nala is in the Debian repo. I installed it once to see how it did, but it displa...

Re: [Discussion] Debian Mailing Lists - Unsubscribing due to no MX record

E-mails started coming in just now and dig is now showing the MX record for the domain again. But I was able to successfully unsubscribe that e-mail from the mailing lists via the e-mails received and using an address more reliable. Thanks again.

Re: [SID - Unstable] Apt vs Synaptic

I just ran Synaptic and let it do its thing. I also took screenshots of what it was removing/installing/upgrading. After this, I ran apt autoremove from a terminal and there were now numerous (KDE) package to remove as they were now no longer required. I let it autoremove all of the packages, then r...
