Stability. For years I distro hopped, and you realize just how breakable other distributions are after awhile. Often, just running normal updates can break other distributions.
I've found Debian Stable to be the most reliable Linux version, and I've never been happy for long with anything else.

Re: rolling distros becoming more popular
I'm glad I started with Debian, because after years of distro-hopping and seeing my system continue to break and need constant fixing with other distros, I probably would have quit using Linux. Debian Stable is the main reason I still use it, and will continue to do so.

Re: [SOLVED]repository change?
Well, I spout the greatness of synaptic...I say it's all you need...and in giving a dialog to respond 'y', it failed. To execute 'apt update' which is the only needed command to accept the change, synaptic needs some cli help. Then synpatic works. so that's what's missing... Right. Still an issue i...

Re: Debian like a version for me?
IMHO you will be happier sticking with MX Linux as it has MX Package Installer (with Chrome included) and is more newbie friendly than vanilla Debian, but try Debian and see for yourself. Nothing like gaining experience and learning from doing.

Re: Valve is dropping Ubuntu support over 32-bit lib cut
Wasn't SteamOS built on Debian?
Looks like an easy move for those interested in 32 bit games, Wine, being able to use their printer with 32 bit drivers, to move to Debian.

I don't see it and I use Startpage every day as my home page and search engine. Try adding Startpage to your browser:

Ok, well thanks, and apology, I just tried something my self, and don't think it was what I thought any way. I am not familiar enough with 'gdebi' either, to say much. Re: Should Debian 10 default to Wayland?
^Your question answers itself. Because if you wait on making something default, making something being used out in the open, being tested by a larger user base...well, you catch my drift. The replacements won't write themselves. The numbers don't and won't matter if the only users are developers wh...

I'm thinking I will use Buster with KDE, though tempted to use MATE as I typically do.
