Re: Software Raid 1 HELP!!!!

I would go for making a RAID1 with your two disks and then partition that singel raid device (/dev/md0) with LVM2. I would make your systems much more flexible in the future, as you can add, remove and resize partitions easy. With some file systems, like xfs and jfs you can even resize partitions wh...

Re: Turn off / IPv6

I'm pretty sure that most websites still only exist IPv4space; in fact, it's starting to look more and more like IPv6 was a kneejerk reaction that's really unneeded. It ain't, but your ISP's is good in hiding the problem. But really, there is a limit how far they can stretch a net. And as it now is...

Or, you could start to use IPv6 for real. Take a look at those for more information:

Re: Turn off / IPv6

Or just ignore it. You will have a link local connection, which will not go outside your network (thats is one reason it called link local in the first place). Global IPv6-addresses starts with an 2000: If you useing a cheap router, it will not support IPv6 either, and you will not get past that one...

Or better yet, do not enter password on command line, as it will be saved in your history line (no good).

Code: Select all

/usr/bin/mysqladmin -p -u root
should do it, but prompting you for your password.

You need to tell tomcat and java that you web aplication is allowed to read files outside of your tomcat directories. That you can do by add a file in /etc/tomcat5.5/policy.d/ File /etc/tomcat5.5/policy.d/50user.policy is a good example. Copy to 55Nutch.policy and restart aplication or tomcat sudo i...

As an information.

Users in My-Sql is not in any way connected to users in the operation systems. So root in My-Sql and in your operating system could AND should have different passwords.

By the way. I have been looking into this for a while. This thread looks promising. Thanks!

This what's good with multi core. One CPU can do lots of stuff, calculating something (like audio or video). And one is there for handling interactive stuff with the GUI. So most things in user computers are better with dual core lower freq than a singel high freq CPU (depending on your usage patter...

So you have installed the kernel from source yourself, and not by a package from Debian? If so, install the package from Debian. There sould be a package there (I guess, logn time ago I used Sarge). Or better yet, upgrade to Etch. What you need to know there is that hotplug will be removed and udev ...

OK well I'm still having a problem. I'm using the Debian way to install the driver. I get to the point where I execute: m-a prepare This command fails because it apt-get couldn't find package kernel-headers-2.6.19. I believe I'm missing a source in /etc/apt/sources.list because I can't get these ke...

Etch is called Testing right now. But not for long *checking* but still. So it's the new Stabel. It is about same size as Sarge. But I guess you "only" need first for installation. Then the rest could be downloaded. But if you could get disc 1-3 more you should have all that is realy neede...

You might want to use jackd here. It is a good sound daemon with low latency for real sound recording etc. With ALSA it makes a Linux compete with Apple and MS Windows as a digital recording studio. To convert OSS clients to JACK you can use jacklaunch in package libjacksyn0 You might forget that J...
