I could only get flash working when I moved the libflashplayer.so to /usr/lib64/iceweasel/plugins
mv libflashplayer.so /usr/lib64/iceweasel/plugins

Tried the symlinks again, still not working. I will just reinstall Debian when I get home from work. In rescue mode there is the option to start a shell form the selected filesystem or from the rescue CD. I can start the shell from the CD.
