Re: how do I save the contents of an active xfce4-terminal?

When Terminal is open, select the Terminal menu item, then select Save Contents. Now a window will open with the opportunity to name and save the file where you would like to. Awesome, thanks! Can't believe I missed that... Your welcome; don't feel too bad as I looked at that option for seve...

Re: Upgrading Debian version 9 to version 10

Read the Release Notes section on upgrading - https://www.debian.org/releases/buster/amd64/release-notes/ch-upgrading.en.html To upgrade to Debian 12 you need to upgrade each release individually 9 > 10 > 11 > 12. There are similar release notes for each version. Personally I would just backup every...

Re: Bookworm/xfce + nvidia drivers -- blank after light-locker-command

Can you explain exactly what apt did with that command. I was initially expecting it to just remove nouveau packages, rather than everything configured to depend on them. Can't explain, the output was way too long to read. When I read how many packages where flagged to remove I just thought "N...

Re: How I Built The Hyper^Linux Kernel With Debian Bullseye 11.9

You need to benchmark your kernel and compare to other kernels dedicated to "high performance" and low latency such as Liquorix. Otherwise your clams are unsubstantiated. You may also find your obsession with security will degrade performance. For example, Phoronix tested performance with ...

Re: Bookworm/xfce + nvidia drivers -- blank after light-locker-command

I just did sudo apt autoremove *nouveau* --purge which has removed a huge amount of stuff including a few things I've reinstalled. I'll see what happens when I reboot, lol. That was probably a Really Bad Idea™. I just did a simulated purge of *nouveau* and it would have pretty much deleted the whol...

Re: how do I save the contents of an active xfce4-terminal?

Select All then Ctrl-Shift-C to copy then paste in a text editor. Should work in xfce-terminal but I didn't test it as I don't Xfce. To save a command output to a text file you can redirect it to a file eg.: sudo apt update > update.txt To save a command output and display it in terminal at the same...

Re: [Testing-Bullseye] Can we put threads here if we are testing Bullseye still ;D

And No, my vote is for Off-Topic. Agreed. It certainly doesn't belong in Testing and Unstable subforum as that is currently specifically for Trixie. It's not really Off-Topic though as Bullseye is still supported. You can certainly post any Bullseye issues in the Help and Support section. However a...

Re: unmet dependencies with update

Remove meta package linux-image-amd64 if you are using an alternate kernel. That's not essential. I run Liquorix kernel but keep the stable linux-image-amd64 so I always have the latest stable kernel as fallback. Liquorix is manually installed to avoid the Nvidia driver build failing for almost eve...

Have you tried a newer kernel? I saw one post stating the driver for this device was added in kernel 6.2 . Try a kernel from backports.

mdadm is for RAID. You may be able to remove the package if you don't use RAID. I don't think it is required for LVM.

Re: Setting firmware=never allows non-free firmware installation on Debian 12

Lux8 please list the "approximately 30 non-free components installed" that you have on your system. Here I have exactly 6 non-free firmware packages installed, all of which are required for my hardware. Non-free drivers are not what this issue should be about, they generally have to be in...

Re: UEFI boot-repair not working

For Debian GRUB to detect other OSs you need to enable os_prober which is disabled by default. Boot Debian and change it in /etc/default/grub . You don't need boot-repair or a live disk to do this.
There are a number of topics about this already.

That's your opinion and you are welcome to keep it. Mine is that any containerised applications are absolute last resort when packages are not available in official repos.

Use the Code display button in the reply box. Or manually using "code" in the <> instead of "c" like you did.

I get this:

C
C.utf8
de_DE.utf8
POSIX
Please use standard code tags for multiline output, not inline code tags. Inline tags are for a single command inside a sentence.
