Re: Openvpn: failed connection

From what I've read, mixing and matching packages from Testing into Stable is frowned upon as ill-advised/risky (to system robustness). Sometimes you might get away with it, sometimes it will destroy your system. It's package Russian Roulette. Usually depends on which package dependencies are neede...

Re: pipewire : Failed to receive portal pid: org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NameHasNoOwner:

Wow, 2 threads on the same day about the same non-issue.
Bullseye doesn't use Pipewire as default so that message is only informational and is inconsequential.

What directory is cwd when you run the make command? Exactly which driver are you trying to compile?

Re: KDE - Bullseye - Issues after update with old dependencies

The easy solution is to install the deb-multimedia version. Switching back to the Debian version is probably something that is considered 'not for the feint of heart'. You can try to force the downgrade and see what wants to be removed. If you have deb-multimedia in your sources.list you may need t...

Re: KDE - Bullseye - Issues after update with old dependencies

Where did you get wine-stable from? There is no package in Bullseye repo by that name. I use the WineHQ version but that is called winehq-stable and is problem-free here. Do you still have other non-Debian repos active? That can cause exactly those problems. Please post output of

Re: KDE - Bullseye - Issues after update with old dependencies

See that "dmo" in the package name? That means the package is from Deb Multimedia, an unofficial third party repo which is notorious for creating dependency problems like this. That prefix "10" in the dmo one causes it to be the preferred version when it is actually older than th...

Re: What's the official recommended method to fix NO_PUBKEY errors during apt-get update?

Armbian is not Debian so we can't be certain how they handle their keys. I recommend asking on Armbian forums.

Topic moved to Offtopic as it's not about Debian.

Re: Updates today (9-25-21) broke Debian Cinnamon

Sid and experimental are not called development releases for nothing. Packages are in experimental because they haven't been proven to work yet. 5.14 was released in Sid yesterday so also not proven. You need to check journalctl, logs in /var/log/ , ~/.xsessionerrors. It may help to post your hardwa...

Re: Graphics issue on 5.14

It's hard to debug a custom compiled kernel on a forum, especially with no logs or error messages. If your aim is (timer=1000hz & preempt=y) I suggest you try a Liquorix kernel which has those set by default. I've used it happily for a few years for audio production and also as my daily desktop....

Re: Look forward to Debian 12 "Bookworm"!

... From a packaging standpoint relative to 5.10.x the package for 5.14 is considered a new package, so it would not show as an upgrade to your installed package for the kernel and as a dependency of the kernel metapackages it would be considered a new dependency and packages with new dependencies ...

Re: How to restart pulseaudio but keep applications connected?

Thank you! Would you suggest replacing PA with JACK entirely, or would I be using PA alongside JACK? It is possible to set up a PA > JACK bridge for those applications which don't sink to JACK directly. It's a bit more complicated to set up but it sounds like your setup is quite involved anyway so ...

Re: How to restart pulseaudio but keep applications connected?

Have you looked at journalctl or other logs to see if there are error messages? Perhaps having 20-30 audio applications open at once is too much for your system? Or maybe one of them is glitching? I don't know of a way to get Pulseaudio to restore connections like that, maybe you could script it. Fo...
