Re: getting ralink 3090 drivers in kernell?

Please mark thread [SOLVED] so your answer may help others. Questions about firmware are possibly the most common of any on the forum. I would usually advise beginners to install the "unofficial" non-free image which includes firmware to avoid this issue. Unless you philosophically want on...

Re: [HOWTO] Debian 11 (sid) with Gnome 40

What I meant by "please fix it" is regarding the title. It should be something like "Upgrade Bullseye to Sid and install Gnome 40". Once you change the sources and upgrade it is no longer Debian 11 Bullseye. The only issue with your sources edit is you left out non-free which is ...

Please, this thread finished 2 1/2 years ago. Resurrecting it is pointless. OP appears to have left and slammed the door on the way out.

Re: a2jmidi bridge for jack does not start on pipewire

You may get more help with Pipewire at Linux Musicians forum. A couple of people have installed it to experiment and have it working to some extent although a number of features from PA or JACK are still missing. Mostly it is considered not ready for primetime yet. I don't think many forum members u...

Re: Weird lines on the screen [solved]

It only has a mini display port, and I don't have an adapter... The screen changes when I type in my password, and the fan runs a little, indicating that it boots like it should. Sounds likely it's the screen then. Edit: Nope, that didn't help. I am sending it to the landfill. Surely you have elect...

Re: Weird lines on the screen

Pretty sure it's dead. Could be a loose connector or something. Open it up, wiggle stuff, clean connectors with contact cleaner.
Can you plug it in to an external monitor to ascertain if it is only the screen?

Re: [HOWTO] Debian 11 (sid) with Gnome 40

That's not a guide to installing Gnome 40 on Debian 11 (which is Bullseye/stable not sid), it's a guide to upgrade a stable install to an unstable install plus Gnome and your edits to sources.list are incomplete. Sid can be more easily installed then upgraded from a testing image. Please fix it.

Re: AFTER INSTALLATION: error: file '/boot/grub/i386-pc/normal.mod' not found grub rescue>

You possibly have an error in methodology here. Which image did you use? How did you create the installer USB device? Some details of hardware would be helpful, along with a full description of your installation process. Hi. I've just installed bullseye on a hard disk. it went well, and booted, then...

What features of v3.50 make it worthy of building when 3.40 is available in the repo?

Re: pkexec tuxcmd: creating policy rule

I forgot to detail the mismatch. The doublecmd file is called "org.doublecmd.root.policy" and the <action id= section matches the file name. Yours doesn't match and contains "synaptic" for some reason. Could probably lose the "ubuntu" as well.

Re: pkexec tuxcmd: creating policy rule

I'm no expert on policykit but I see a mismatch when comparing it to my doublecmd policy file. It seems Tux Commander is a dead project which hasn't been updated for 8 years and depends on deprecated GTK2. I suggest to install Double Commander instead which comes with pkexec already set up. apt inst...

Sunrat, From your example my system is like it was on a fresh install(my n00b brain tells me it's better), but from the Debian wiki it disables the the security updates (bullseye-security) under updates in "Software & Updates". Sorry, I don't know what "Software & Updates&quo...

Sure, you can post how you compiled it. However the latest icewm release is already in Testing, and it has a Debian maintainer.

https://ice-wm.org/ - this homepage also has instructions how to compile the latest unreleased development version from Github.

Re: Look forward to Debian 12 "Bookworm"!

Has anyone ever upgraded to the 5.14 kernel? Running it on four machines plus one VM - no issues here. Totally screwed up. Couldn't even boot back to the old kernel. How did you do it? So it lasted a week before you broke it. Can't say I'm surprised. It's a regular problem for people who always wan...
