If you want the shiny new versions backport them or build them from source.BTW the newest version of LibreOffice is 7.2,2. libreoffice: Installed: 1:7.2.1-4 Candidate: 1:7.2.1-4 Version table: 1:7.2.2~rc...

Re: question about installing veracrypt

It needs the root/sudo password because it has to be root in order to encrypt anything.

Re: Unrecoverable system freeze in Debian 11

An OS can only do what you tell it to do. When you mess with required system components things break. Debian works and is way more stable whether it be as a server or as a desktop than any other distro. I know people that have ran it for yrs and even some since it first came out. Personally I ran it...

Re: You have retained broken packages

Time to change your sources to Testing or Unstable and upgrade. Or reinstall Stable and stick with Stable's sources.list.

I use Osmo, great little app. No reason to use one of the heavier planner/task manager apps.

Day Planner has a version for Debian 11. https://github.com/downloads/zerodogg/dayplanner/dayplanner_0.11-1_all.deb Radiotray hasn't been updated in ages. or you could try Shortwave: https://gitlab.gnome.org/World/Shortwave Obconf was orphaned because it is dead upstream. Re: Debian 11, firefox-esr is not supported for online meetings

Thanks, but all suggestions are about alternatives. I want to understand why the build from main repo can't pass the test, while the official binary from Mozilla does. And can it be fixed through about:config ? Download Firefox from Mozilla, run it once then close it. Then navigate to the new Firef...

Re: Debian 11, firefox-esr is not supported for online meetings

Current Firefox is in the Snap-store, no need to be crazy and mix Stable with Sid.
Firefox version 92.0-3
Yes I know a lot of people do not like snaps. But this is easier and safer than mixing releases or using a PPA.

Re: Look forward to Debian 12 "Bookworm"!

Bullseye, sid, and bookworm were all pretty much the same a few weeks ago. Give it time to move forward and away from stable. Oh there have already been hundreds of packages updated in Sid. :D Including base-files that came with the name change. cat /etc/os-release PRETTY_NAME="Debia...
