That's good to know. I wonder why they didn't leave a virtual package for KDM for the transistion?

I like it too. I actually changed my KDE wallpaper to match it.

I want to see the follow up story for your refund for the shipping charges.

Honestly, though, a computer company needs forms mailed to them?

Good job, by the way. I got an Acer and never would have thought to bother. Now I wish I had.

Re: What's the best file system?

ext4 won for me at due to the speed of the first fsck.

I turn off my computer to save power so I hit the 20-30 boot threshold to force a filesystem check fairly quickly. My 2 terabyte drive takes around 2-5 seconds. I no longer have any need to disable or postone these checks.

Re: The new kde 4 interface simply rocks!

What "Debian KDE repos" did you use? It's my understanding that Squeeze is still using KDE 4.4.x, but you said that you're using KDE 4.5. Are you running Sid? :? I am running sid. They are from the KDE Debian team. http://qt-kde.debian.net/ deb http://qt-kde.debian.net/debian experimental...

Re: The new kde 4 interface simply rocks!

KDE 4 works well for me using the Debian KDE repos. They changed up the system setting menu for 4.5 so that takes a while to get used to but I love it. Whenever I try to use another desktop, I run into one thing or another that drives me back to KDE. It runs fast on my machine as well as well as my ...

Re: Hello Chromium-browser, goodbye iceweasel?

I feel that Chromium is superior because of the clean interface, speed and sandboxed tabs. What you call "clean" I call "lacking" - opening a bookmark requires opening a new tab, for instance. As for speed, Konqueror's pretty damn quick with the bonus of being able to summon all...

Re: New Ubuntus released

out of interest why not run sid seeing as ubuntu is a snapshot thereof? That is what I used to do. I wanted KDE 4.5, though, and made the decision before realizing that there was an external debian repo containing a more up-to-date KDE for Debian. I am not very good at updating everyone's machine i...

Re: New Ubuntus released

I've been using it on all my machines. It works fine for me.

I prefer Debian, but now that my entire family is using linux, Kubuntu provides me new enough packages while remaining a relatively uniform environment.

Wanna bet the certs won't work on Linux, causing it to automatically classify Linux as infected. All part of the Corporate driven web 2.0 . Google, Verizon and other big ISPs will jump on board in a heart beat. Why would google try to hurt linux? It would also know their chromeos and androids of th...

I am one of the 2 that voted yes :) It really depends on how you define important. I would rather have a public facebook account where people can find me from the past than a public email address. I didn't have an email address until I started college and that email is long gone. I am a completely u...
