Unable to boot system after netinst installation [SOLVED]
This is a summary of wht has been done. Copied the latest 10.7 netinst iso to USB stick using: dd if=netinst.iso of=/dev/sdc;sync The stick worked like a charm, exactly as a CD. Installationi finished successfully, I started it under Secure Boot, that is what this firmware calls UEFI. However the ha...

Re: Abruptly lost sound
https://hastebin.com/ecurijejeg.apache Time for a reinstall. Don't mess around with non-Debian repositories next time. Never did mess around, I only install from the netinst CD, by the way it is not booting now. It boots in an HP pavilion laptop, which also has EFI. so there must be something in th...

Re: Booting from netinst CD
It is a Satellite C75D. Very few explanations, it doesn't even tell you which key to press at startup to boot into BIOS, I had to figure out it's F2. Secure boot is disabled, since the CD is not working I could try to boot into netinst from a USB stick. In that case, I might need to start another th...

Re: Abruptly lost sound
Sorry head, There can be no question of new kernel since loss of sound happened before any dist-upgrade, it happened after I plugged headphone in the external speaker output.Regarding the command you are missing, please repost and I will gladly use pastebin.
Thank you.
Thank you.

Booting from netinst CD
I burned a bootable netinst CD stable version (buster) and installed Debian without probems in an HP laptop. Now I need to reinstall in a Toshiba laptop and there is no way to boot from CD, I think this is caused by EFI. Changed boot sequence in BIOS but computer reverts always to the installed OS, ...

Re: Abruptly lost sound
Thinking about it, it is not only internet sound that was lost.
I use KDE and plasma desktop has certain sounds that can be enabled for events.
Enabled sounds no longer work either.

Re: Abruptly lost sound
Disabled auto mute mode in alsa mixer, still no sound from internet, raised volume to max in master and speaker, SOL.
How?
F6 to select generic audio, not HDMI
Use horizontal arrows to navigate to auto-mute
Use vertical arrows to disable
ESC

Re: Abruptly lost sound
Ok, I decided to test only with built-in speakers, unplugged external, so there will be no question of cables. ALso set audacious to ALSA accrding to instructions, trouble is that I don't listen to music from playlists, if there is a clip with sound on the web and I play it won't output sound. Outp...

Re: Abruptly lost sound
What did you install from that dodgy :D buster-backports repository, and why is it left enabled contrary to their instructions? Note that a newer kernel may also need newer non-free sound firmware packages to match from buster-backports. Backports are official Debian stuff, firmware linux non-free ...
