Very interesting. KOTAPAKA seems skilled in many fields but not so much in heeding his/her own advice.

Update was done by changing "sources.list" references from Etch to Lenny, then aptitude update. That left me with a printer problem as the update installed a later version of gutenprint than my printer was using. So did an apt-get update. That solved the printer problem but left me bootin...

Hello, is your machine connected to the internet? If so, you don't need the CDs as you can obtain all the software Debian offers via internet. For this, your /etc/apt/sources.list needs to be configured to use the correct repositories. There should be lines similar to these: deb http://ftp.de.debian...

Re: New user to run aMule

EDIT: Actually, checking out the manpage, this might be better: xhost +local:amuleuser It should only allow the amule user to start graphical application, not everyone. i tried it on my system, but it doesn't behave as expected, for all local users can run graphical applications, not just the one s...

Re: Iceweasel still refuses to work

My Iceweasel on my Debian Lenny system over here still refuses to work. Any suggestions? I previously started a thread with this some time ago and I got the answer on using the Opera web browser as an alternative. And although Opera works great, some sites which uses Java technology just don't seem...

Nice, welcome back to your old identity ;)

I finished downloading your iso, but have to wait with burning as I don't have a cd burner at the moment...

A live CD with e17 would be very enlightening

I had similiar problem, but I downloaded KnetworkManager, which sorted things out. I never managed to connect via iwconfig + wpasupplicant. How can that be? I only use iwconfig and wpasupplicant (and it usually works fine)... Doesn't Knetworkmanager just put a graphical frontend to these commands? ...

I don't know about the transparency, but blackbox and fluxbox seem to be popular lightweight WMs. Also, I would consider IceWM and Enlightenment (I still use e16...) lightweight... Probably there are lots of others. For starters check this out ;)

Lenny without internet access

I want to update my laptop (TP R50e) from Etch to Lenny. However, I will be moving to a new appartment soon and there is no new infrastructure for DSL or other highspeed internet available yet. So my only option to go online in the future seems to be dial-up via modem :x I read here that some people...
