Wheezy is very good. Been with Debian since squeeze came out and the diabolical Unity interface.

Re: Why is MATE not packaged in Debian?
I also only use XFCE for since Debian Squeeze was released. I tried KDE for awhile but this laptop is old and does not have much power to run it. I am looking into getting a new laptop eventually and then may use KDE but we'll see.

Re: Favorite DE/WM in Wheezy
Sorry for asking the question. I do realize it was asked countless times. But I was curious on people's opinions for Wheezy due to the Gnome 3 switch over to see what most was still using, I won't ask again.

Favorite DE/WM in Wheezy
So out of curiosity what is everyone's favorite DE/WM in Wheezy? I've upgraded my Squeeze system to Wheezy, and I mostly like XFCE since it is a lot like Gnome 2 IMO. I am also playing with Gnome-Shell just to see the big difference. I can see why people are mad about the changes so far. Most likely...

Re: about installing packages
Conclusion is that I am requesting debian developers to study the opensuse software manager and how it handles software installation and resolving dependencies. In opensuse if we try to install a particular package it will recursively display about dependencies and also it will never ask new userna...

Re: Returning to Debian!
What brought me back was my laptop for some odd reason would not bootup after an update. I tried re-installing Linux Mint but kept saying xorg server failed, and I couldn't figure out why. So I remembered I had a Debian Squeeze disc lying around, so that install worked flawlessly, so once I had Sque...

Returning to Debian!
I've also returned back to Debian after a 1yr with Linux Mint. Now on Wheezy with XFCE. I love it! Never going to another distribution again. I'm done with Distro-hopping. Thanks Debian!

Easy fix. Install KDM. Then install KDE. System Settings -> Advanced Tab -> Login Manager. Much easier to change than GDM3. lol.

Re: Question for Wheezy users who dislike Gnome 3?
I was a heavy Gnome 2 user. up till Ubuntu 10.04. Now I'm on Debian Squeeze KDE. It's awesome. Sometimes I switch between XFCE.

Re: Thanks to Debian I am one step closer to being unshackle
Welcome I became Windows free back in 2006 with Ubuntu 6.06. Used it till 10.04. Switched to Debian Squeeze with KDE when it was frozen in 2010. Been happy ever since. Sometimes I switch back and forth between XFCE but more and more I'm using KDE. Good luck.

Re: Has anyone tried Ubuntu 12.04 yet?
I had the itch for distro-hopping again and moved my main desktop to Linux Mint 12. But now I'm coming back to Debian Squeeze tonight. Too many bugs in Linux Mint. I also tried Kubuntu 12.04 but I didn't like it. My laptop and desktop will now always remain on Debian.

Re: Where are you on the Debian Gnu-Linux Learning Curve?
I'm guessing I'm intermediate I used Ubuntu from 6.06 until 10.04 as my only operating system no Windows since 2006 here at all! Didn't like where Ubuntu was heading switched to Debian 6 Squeeze in december 2010 (i think). Started with kde but then switched to XFCE. Love how light it is on resources...

Re: Debian 6.0.4 released
I've been running Debian Squeeze since it was frozen back last December (2010). So far no updates have messed up my system. I have not lost X or sound or wireless.
I've been using LinuxForever00 as my user name I figured using my real name is better.
