Re: Grub2 and framebuffer
This doesn't work for me. Since the recent upgrade to 2.6.32.3-amd64 the framebuffer has been broken, I can't set anything except the default. The old method of setting it in /etc/grub.d/00_header & /etc/defaults/grub just leaves me with a blank screen, any workarounds would be appreciated. Thi...

Re: Grub2 and framebuffer
Yes I'm using them. But I have older intel desktop hardware and even older intel laptop hardware.... So I'm only able to offer hints as to what might be going on with your nvidia setup...especially if you're using the nvidia kernel... And updates are coming so fast that what I posted yesterday, mig...

Re: Grub2 and framebuffer
All I get is a black screen, after gdm starts and doing Ctrl+Alt+F1 gets me a also a black screen, sometimes there is the Debian boot loader logo all distorted.
So, X starts fine, is just the frame buffer that gets unusable.
If I set al to defaults I get the normal 640x480 frame buffer.

Re: Grub2 and framebuffer
Hi, sorry for waking this old thread but it seemed there was no point in starting a new one. So, unfortunately none of the above works for me, I used to set my FB resolution by editing /boo/grub/grub.cfg with: set gfxpayload=1680x1050x32 now it does't seem to work any more. The changelog of the late...

Re: Beep with Squeeze
In may case, I love the beeps, but cant seem to make them work in gnome-terminal. In my laptop I have beep in the mixer, which works when in a tty console but not in gnome-terminal. I modprobed snd-pcs but all I get is a jerky sound from the sound themes in the gnome mixer preferences. All I want is...

Re: Received signal 11, exiting...
In deed! It worked like a charm! :D How did you ever come up with this solution? Are you a programer? Any way, thank you so much for taking the time to post a solution an help a fellow Debian user. I recently moved to amd64 and RtCW is working, except for the sound that fails to initialize with some...

Re: Received signal 11, exiting...
I'm currently runing the latest nvidia drivers from the Debian repos, installed the Debian way version 190.42-3. RTCW multiplayer runs fine, witch is weird, all other games run fine like RTCW Enemy Territory, except for some sound issues that were rapidly solved. Older versions of the installer will...

Re: Can I encrypt normal folders?
I didn't experience any issues with filenames in ~/Private. But in ~/.Private you'll just see the encrypted directory or file names which willl look like ~/.Private/ECRYPTFS_FNEK_ENCRYPTED.<long_sequence_numbers_letters> I'm using the packages in Squeeze. I guess I was looking at the packages in .P...

Re: Can I encrypt normal folders?
Thank you very much for the howto Julian, much appreciated. Still, the pam authentication isn't clear to me on how exactly I should set up things, another thing that bugs me is that all the files inside Private got their name messed up, I'm using testing, so I wander if there is some sort of bug on ...
