I am having this problem as well. I don't use a login manager, so when I drop to the command line, my laptop keyboard works fine. Whenever I a X session, I can't use my keyboard or touchpad, but USB versions work. This started today after I rebooted.

Eh, I use ext2 for my boot partition and JFS for all the other ones. For some reason XFS seems slow for me when installing packages, and the error checking for ext2/3/4 takes FOREVER on large partitions. XFS cannot be the boot partition, at least in Debian. I installed it on my amd64 machine. Finally I was able to work with flash with iceape since flash decided not to play nice with 64bit.

Have you tried apt-get -f install (or aptitude as the case may be? One of the things I do is to try it with Synaptic. Sometimes it is more visual about what the problem is. Are you running a pure Testing? I mean, do you have any non-Testing elements that might interfere? I have tried the above, and...
