Re: How to rotate these insane Samba logs properly?
the amount of log files you are getting, wow. must have a fairly funky config
anyway a program you will want to have a look at is logrotate to cycle your logs through.. just make sure you get a backup of the logfiles periodically becuase you never know when you are going to need them

Re: Web Hosting on Debian
Hi Thunder, Using one of those guides will be fine for the most part.. anyway in order of questions you asked.. SCSI vs SATA: SCSI is old and dead. Mirrored (RAID1) 500GB SATA will be fine, especially as you are starting out, and you need a really really really busy site(s) to make SAS a viable opti...

I had this issue not-so-long-ago on some Sun Blades and couldn't find a solution for it. To work around it I installed using serial console access

Re: iSCSI Connection
You will need to install open-iscsi on your debian system. You should then be able to do something like this from the console iscsiadm -m discovery -t sendtargets -p <NAS_IP_ADDRESS> Which will scan the NAS for iscsi targets it can connect to. You will need to take note of what it scans (usually its...

Delete the /var/log/vsftpd.log and try commenting out the syslog_enable and restarting vsftp

Re: Vsftp log not working
syslog_enable=YES redirects ALL logging to syslog (/var/log/syslog) If you want to keep a separate log for vsftpd as it sounds like you do, you will need to commend out the syslog_enable directive

Re: Determine bandwidth per client on wireless AP
RADIUS or TACACS+ is probably what you are after, however you need capable AP hardware, and configuring the RADIUS / TACACS+ server itself is very involved.. You might want to check out FreeRADIUS for more info to see if you want to travel down that path.. If you do and want an easy management porta...

I didn't say anything was wrong with iceweasel, but here are some things I dont like about iceweasel: a) the icon: its not red and fire-like, its well known that the colour red and flames make everything faster, look at hot-rods. b) the name: weasels aren't cool; there isnt a book & movie called...

so bootsplash get's replaced by Splashy which eventually is replaced by USplash . Ergo, anyone can have a graphical splash screen, then again, debian is not for "everyone". Ahh the sweet old days.. I'm bummed that splashy lost out, it was a piece of piss to get an image, munge some crappy...

Still got access to the data off the raid?
Copy it to another HDD, hose your raid, rebuild it and copy data back?
Could also try (but risky) force re-adding the failed drive to the array

His root is only 319 MB, thats fairly tiny by most peoples metric.. and seeing as /var is on its own partition an apt clean wont do much..
