Re: [Software] How to get latest Libre writer in Bookworm?

I still have to communicate with other people who are using microsoft products and it has always worked best if I am up to date with Libre.
Are you saying that the current version does not work?

Years ago when emailing one version of Microsoft to an incompatible Microsoft we always used RTF.

Re: Systemd borked after update from 12.1 to 12.2

1) Does your computer otherwise work?

2) According to the Wiki
Failed units can be manually cleared out:

Code: Select all

# systemctl reset-failed
If you do that what result do you get from

Code: Select all

 systemctl list-units --failed

Re: Blank screen after installing Debian 12 on old laptop, desktop not loading

I used to have an ancient Dell laptop with similar specs.

Try adding i915.modeset=1 as is, to your boot line, and see what happens.

Alternatively try i915.modeset=0

If it works you also have to run sudo update-grub after making the changes

Re: apt-get purge

If you're using live, when you reboot any changes you make will be removed.

To get changes to stay you need a proper install.

@Luqmonjon

Please don't add your problem onto somebody else's thread.

Start your own thread about your own problem.

The subject here is: Re: Wi-Fi, sound and graphics on Lenovo ThinkPad E15 with Debian 11

Your problem has nothing to do with that,

Re: Cant run apt-get update

Could there possibly be a fault with the / after the word Debian? The wiki gives the example deb http://deb.debian.org/debian bookworm main non-free-firmware deb-src http://deb.debian.org/debian bookworm main non-free-firmware deb http://deb.debian.org/debian-security/ bookworm-security main non-fre...

nomodeset is not the answer because it does not show the correct revolution and doesn't play games
I think you misunderstand the place of nomodeset. It is a TEMPORARY measure to get a GUI and then you can permanently install the correct firmware for your GPU.

Re: New to Debian - Feeling overwhelmed

The best teacher of Linux is probably to install and use it.

Be prepared for some gains and some losses

If you are concerned about losing stuff you should Backup to save it.

Change to line that says
deb http://deb.debian.org/debian $codename-backports main contrib non-free
to
deb http://deb.debian.org/debian bookworm-backports main contrib non-free

If you don't need source code, and most people don't, you don't need the lines that begin deb-src

Re: turn bluetooth of at boot.

I am a bit puzzled by this.

If I turn off Bluetooth and reboot, it is still turned off. It does not start until I re-start it. It does not switch itself on again by itself.

Not sure what the purpose of the script is,

Re: SbK LXQt 1023 release

2. A Debian testing install that is 100% Debian compatible.
What does that mean when Waterfox is not in the Debian Repositories and must be imported into sources.list.d ?

Or does it not matter if we put things into sources, list.d?
