[Software] Firefox cut copy paste with mouse
Being able to cut/copy/paste by clicking mouse buttons is a handy tool. Recently Firefox won't let me do that. It will let me pull a drop down menu but that's a nuisance. I think the change came with an upgrade but I might have clicked something somewhere by mistake. I could solve this by renaming ....

Re: [Software] my Debian Bullseye random and complete freeze
This looks to me like an hardware problem. A cold solder connection in a power supply or video card can be terribly frustrating. So can dried up CPU adhesive. Have you blown the dust out of your computer? Make sure the fans work smoothly. Disconnect and re-seat all connections, including memory stic...

Re: [Software] Firefox: I accidentally trashed .mozilla directory, now Firefox won't run
Wm. A. Weasel, Did you try $ locate firefox ? (You may have to install locate .) There are hits in strange places. Most are in /home/user/.cache/mozilla and /home/user/.config/.cache/mozilla . Do you have a directory called /home/user/.mozilla.new.unused ? Just a crazy thought, have you turned off a...

Re: How do I suspend system without root privileges?
Do these work? and/or I run these on my desktop.
I just tried $ systemctl suspend and it worked too.
I'm running Debian 10, Buster. Does Debian 11 do this differently?
Code: Select all
$ systemctl poweroff
Code: Select all
$ systemctl reboot
I just tried $ systemctl suspend and it worked too.

Re: Discussion and poll on subforum title
. . . Testing users were confused and tended to post all over other sections of the forum. I'm going to stick my neck out here. Testing and Sid are development releases; they are not for newbies looking for shiny new stuff. This forum regularly gets new members whose first question is about some ba...

Test your VPN connection with IP leak. Pay attention to the stuff on the bottom; your browser could be a problem.

Re: lost browser connectivity
though i have firefox installed, i hardly use it. so that it to has problems makes me think it is not a profile issue. This is an easy test which can eliminate many possibilities either way. Chrome has a similar hidden directory; all browsers do. This being Debian you might have fewer problems with...

Re: lost browser connectivity
Whenever I have a browser misbehave I rename its hidden directory (such as .mozilla/firefox) and restart it. A new hidden directory will be created. If the browser then behaves I know that the cause is something I did, usually related to my efforts to block ads, etc.

Re: [SID - Unstable] Connman vs network-manager
Exactly. The machine I'm typing on has not seen a GUI network tool since the previous owner of the MOBO was running Windows 97. A desktop machine has no need for the likes of Connman or Network-managerkent_dorfman766 wrote: ↑2023-01-21 03:51

Re: I got an HDD from a stranger for free , what I should safe check?
I use spare HHDs for various projects including storage. When I get it I install an old Linux (any OS) on it and choose entire disc which pretty much wipes out whatever was there. After that it is used for whatever I want.

Re: [Suggestion] DE's yes, WM ? OPEN FOR COMMENT - UNTIL 1/11/23
"Graphical Environments" covers all the DEs and WMs. "Multimedia" should be kept apart. They are very different subjects.
I rarely see posts here about problems with WMs. My suspicion is that WM users are mostly able to take care of their own issues.

Re: [Software] can i just install all firmware?
Other than this log report, is your computer operating properly?
Drivers are in the kernel. The firmware blobs are non-free blobs needed for the drivers to work. Having excess blobs isn't a problem.
If this is a problem try another kernel, even an older one.
