If you're using lightdm...
~ As root open /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf
~ Uncomment (remove the # sign from) line 73
~ Edit similar to this but with your resolution...

Code: Select all

display-setup-script=xrandr -s 1152x864
~ Reboot

Re: Burn Debian hybrid image to CD

Still, the text ont he debian page regarding hybrid images is ambiguous to me. http://www.debian.org/CD/live/ Size: Each image is much smaller than the full set of CD/DVD images, but larger than the network install media. If you are installing from optical media, the standard and rescue images will...

Re: Does anyone else actually like GNOME3 ?

I hack the shell theme and js and add a docklet and I'm good to go. I've been out of town for a few weeks using a netbook running compiz/emerald standalone, away from my GNOME setups. I miss them. http://www.dumpyourphoto.com/files5/139634/thumbnail/6EztdAe2.png http://www.dumpyourphoto.com/files5/1...

@warren-hill, which schools? What percentage of them? To which manufacturers? Demand how, sign a petition? Boycott and don't use computers until their demands are met? Is there a "The Worldwide School Lobby" and a "Unified Original Equipment Manufacturer's International Feedback Confe...

Re: Tilda terminal on startup in Gnome 3.4?

I grabbed compiz from sid. Are you saying that tilda won't even run on your GNOME setup? I don't see why the compositor should matter, but, again, I can't test for you. Sorry, hopefully someone else will chime in.

Re: Why we hate Windows and Microsoft

If only educational institutes realize that how much in particular Debian (or Linux) is better, then the scene will be opposite. .... then world-wide 95% desktops using Debian Stable.... Sadly, you're probably wrong. The biggest hurdle to Linux being a mainstream desktop OS is that it's not ...

Re: Tilda terminal on startup in Gnome 3.4?

I just checked on my wheezy system running compiz standalone and tilda ran successfully on startup when I added the following to my startup script... (sleep 3s && tilda) & I'm out of town so I can't test this on my desktop running gnome-shell, but you should be able to add the same comma...

Let's leave out the "because negativity is counter-productive and rude" argument... how about the "because this thread is completely impotent" argument? First, dead horse much? Google "microsoft hate", there are about 78,800,000 results. There's a "I Hate Microsoft...

Power button? You know that the Shift key shows the shutdown option when that menu is open, don't you? Actually, it is the Alt button on my Wheezy machine. Thanks for pointing this out.
