Well actually I got it from the debian Sid soucre directory by doing 'apt-get source minitube'

Steve, I'm trying those instructions on the backport build but I'm getting errors on minitube when I try to rename the version with debchange i type in debchange -b -v 1.9~bpo50+1 and then try to run dpkg-buildpackage -rfakeroot -us -uc but i get the following error dpkg-buildpackage: source package...

For what it's worth, when i ran checkinstall, it did build a debian package.

LMDE is built from debian testing aka wheezy. But wheezy will not boot on my laptop but lmde will, go figure. The files are the same but the repos are different.
