Re: NVIDIA publish GPU hardware documentation
It's always good news when companies help open source projects, even if with just the documentation. However, NVIDIA has much catching up to do now. Their next step should be direct involment in the nouveau driver development. AMD's example shows that keeping the driver open while hiding advanced fe...

Have you tried with NetworkManager instead? Wicd might use old wlan interface, maybe you need to change it in teh settings.Denteoli wrote: I used Wicd
Also, it doesn't matter if it works on Lubuntu, as Ubuntu is just a Debian snapshot with some tweaks and added non-free firmware.

Re: ToTF, a roguelike written in Python
^ Yes, python is a great starter language :) I'm curious: what drove the choice for global functions and variables throughout the script? Probably the tutorial's style, as it's written with globals in mind. I am moving away from them as I extend the code, local functions are much more readable. Exam...

Re: ToTF, a roguelike written in Python
I added spells to the game in the latest release:

Now, since the player has become much more powerful, it's time to buff some monsters with their own spells

ToTF, a roguelike written in Python
Hello guys, and sorry for being away for so long. I have been busy trying to develop something, and since this is my first time actually coding something, I decided to write it using python3. I like games, and I love RPGs, so I went with a classic roguelike. I thank the guys at RogueBasin for making...

Today I learned. Great news for users of SI and CIK cardsSajjad Kabir Joy wrote:This used to be true of Mesa 18.* and pre-4.18 kernels. I've had quite some pain. But in my experience, at least on my Kaveri GPU, I've seen that amdgpu has caught up to radeon and is now very stable.

Re: Snaps on Buster, no application entry
Just reboot and they should be in your menu.
On the other hand, ditch snaps and install flatpak. It goes better with Debian and it's better maintained, plus it's a (IMHO) a much better alternative.

Re: Wayland,Synaptic continue without administrative privile
To install Wayland session on Plasma in Sid, you just need this command:
Then choose Plasma (Wayland) from SDDM.
Code: Select all
apt install plasma-workspace-wayland
You clearly didn't. And as HoaS said, you keep being ignorant.giaur wrote:So I installed Plasma and plasma wayland related packages.

Re: Does gdebi ( the gdebi-gtk GUI) work for anybody on Bust
It failed for me in Cinnamon (couldn't bare that desktop so I switched to GNOME again) when I tried installing a .deb file.
I figured it may be because it wasn't configured correctly and just installed that .deb with apt. But I guess it was a bug.

Have you tried moving the mouse using your mind?
I know it's possible in GNOME, I use it all the time.

Re: [Chromium] Videos and GIFs are garbled up
As far as hardware-decoded video playback on MPV and using OpenCL with GIMP are concerned, it works flawlessly, despite the experimental status of these packages. Are you sure OpenCL is working? OpenCL is not part of open-source amdgpu driver, but is is available in AMDGPU-PRO (currently only for U...

Re: Wayland,Synaptic continue without administrative privile
it always does the same packages upgrade as apt in cli. It can't upgrade to another release, as it can't prompt you to accept new release suite change. It also has whacky dependency resolution, when compared to plain apt. That's why I avoided it, well other than security stuff. Wayland itself is no...

Re: Beneath A Steel Sky missing Robot Shell
Why don't you ask on the scummvm forums, or file a bug for it. You could also try to compile a new version from source. Another option is to upgrade to Debian 10 and try it after.
Anyway, this might no be a Debian bug.
Did you try that game with DosBox?

Why did you install it, then? Debian gives you a choice of DE options during the network installation. This hateful mentality towards people who volunteer to make great, free software has to go. It is honestly repulsive.giaur wrote:Also, I hate Gnome3 and I see no benefits from using Wayland.
