Still don't know why the time is different after leaving windows but I'm good now that it is getting network time. What is systemd-timesyncd and is it better than ntp? Thanks Debian uses UTC time and windows as far as I know uses local time. Hardware stores the time and windows like to take control...

Those warnings are harmless if your computer is running ok. They refer to realtek wireless card firmware. Is your wireless working?

Check /var/log/apt/

Post your /etc/apt/sources.list
You most likely don't have contrib and non-free enabled

In the past the following worked

User = user
Pass = live

What DE are you using? Gnome? KDE? Other?

Did you check you DE settings to set the correct option?

gnome tweaks has that setting
