Re: [Software] aptitude safe-upgrade
Sid is undergoing major transition currently. It's recommended not to upgrade until it's done which will take some time yet. See - viewtopic.php?t=158477

Have you made sure the volumes are up and channels unmuted for that device in alsamixer?

Re: [Software] Cannot log into root account
You need to explain better. What does "a bunch of software" mean? sudo group should be in sudoers by default. You don't need your username in there as well.
Does sudo show when you run groups as user?
You do need to restart for the change to take effect.

Looks like hard work. You will have to install it from upstream. A docker container would be the easiest - https://www.freeipa.org/page/Quick_Start_Guide

Re: [Software] Cannot log into root account
So you didn't set up sudo during installation then. Check if your user is in sudo group with the command , as user: groups You can add your user to sudo group by first elevating root privileges: su - be sure to add the dash! Then: adduser <username> sudo Of course replace <username> with your actual...

Re: [Software] Cannot log into root account
Do you mean you can't log in to root in a terminal? It's not possible to do by default in a graphical environment.
During installation, you need to set either a root password or a sudo password. Did you forget it?

What Nvidia driver are you talking about? What card do you have? It would assist if you can post system and hardware details like: inxi -CGSxz inxi must be installed. Kernels don't normally get removed during upgrades. You should read the Bookworm Release Notes upgrade section - https://www.debian.o...

Re: [Solved] Install VirtualBox or Virt-Manager
There is a subject we kinda skipped, I did start out with ... There are the virtualization extensions in cpu's and the particular architecture of the host that likely not only make a difference but could be make or break. You may want to check the specs and bios settings of the machine you're worki...

Re: Plasma turns weird
Probably a casualty of the massive time_t transition. It's a dangerous period in Sid at present. It is recommended to wait until all is clear before upgrading. See - [SID - Unstable] update stuck at resolving dependencies In Sid one should always do very regular system backups especially before larg...

Re: [Software] What is the function of cp debian.iso /dev/sdX?
FWIW, I would not use the cp command, but would instead do "dd if=debian.iso of=/dev/sdx bs=512" since cp is meant for filesystem operations, not raw devices. Poppycock. It's less characters to type than dd! But you are free to use whatever you wish. As OP stated, it is also wha...

Re: Unknown process.. I cant find an answer on google, duckduckgo or anywhere.. "uas"
You're still not quite there. "man" and "ps" are both names of commands, not shortened anything. man is the command to show a man page of a process. So man ps will show the man page for the ps command (ok, man is short for manual). You can view a man page for most commands eg. ma...

Re: dual boot install
Use Advanced Install from the main Debian install image. I don't think the live installer can do dual boot properly (may be wrong but I'm not gonna check right now). Take your time to read and understand the options in Advanced install, it's more advanced ( :D ) than the simple installers. In the pa...

Definitely not a guru here but guessing from a search. uas results show it's a kernel module "USB Attached SCSI" used by some external drives. From https://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/linux-kernel-70/modules-uas-or-usb_storage-still-in-use-after-usb-drive-has-been-unplugged-4175730592...

I don't understand what you are asking. Please explain more.
If you are asking for changes to the forum markup code, that would be a request for the phpBB forum software developers.
