Re: Does Debian have any GUI-installer?, Live-USB

It was quite long ago, when I did it (installation from Live disk), so don't rememeber exactly what I did.

But you can burn a small network install cd, or copy it to a usb-key,

Re: Does Debian have any GUI-installer?, Live-USB

keos wrote: 2024-02-22 13:15 Hello,

Does Debian 12 have any GUI to install it from a live-USB or any command to use from terminal#?

Thank you.
You can select GUI installation from the installation images, Live images as well have a option to install.

@Uptorn gave just a good answer, I will continue from different aspect. Many games available for Linux user are quite simple, they usually are products of one or few persons. Some better, like already mentioned 0adm, have a community behind, larger games need more resources when created, There have ...

Re: Security issue with WIFI being displayed

Well there are ways to use wifi in Linux. I have only used wpa-supplicant and now iwd, and they require admin rights to alter wifi-password. And they don't even show the wifi-password in normal usage.

Re: my printer is not seen by debian 12

I use Brothrer HL-2130 bw laserprinter, and if I need coloured output, I use my wife's Xerox C235 MFP colour laser printer.

It should not be impossible to use Epson printers too.

Re: How not to format home directory during install

Good to make backup of your /home before trying, better to be safe than sorry. The right procedure is described above, but if might be difficult if you are not a seasoned Linux user. When you get Debian installed, you have to change the ownerhsip of the preserved /home to you, since Linux sees users...

Re: WARNING!. Problems with the incoming update - kernel 6.1.0-18 & nvidia driver

Aside from performance, there are other issues with that one though. Resuming from hibernation/sleep has often been problematic for example. Also, I don't know of any way to limit (16-256) the color range with this driver for older displays. I had no such problems when had nvidia gpu and used nouve...

Re: [Software] sudo tasksel is not installing

Bored and decided to play around and install a Gnome DE. I sudo tasksel, I choose Gnome, the next window box (package configuration) opens and it looks like it is going to start an install but then the window disappears. Maybe this is the hidden force of nature protecting me from messing up my KDE?...

Re: Latest linux upgrade 6.1.0-18-amd64 failed

Note about nouveau: Unfortunately, nouveau is not an usable alternative. I even added nouveau.modeset=0 to kernel cmdline, to ensure it is not used (on the server I don't have the correct resolution anymore but it's not a real problem, and on the laptop, resolution is handled by Intel GPU driver). ...

Re: How not to format home directory during install

When I installed Debian 12 I chose to have a separate home partition. How do I re-install Debian 12 without formatting the home partition again? I have used only expert install, but I'd guess it is in other installation methods as well. Select manual, when the installer is going to make the disk pa...

Interesting, I had a very long time ago issues with pci-card slots, found two adjacent used same irq, but that is ancient history, as current mobos don't even have pci slots. I'm almost out of ideas, maybe your mobos manufacturer has bios updates, If so, check the notes, install only what you need. ...
