https://wiki.debian.org/DontBreakDebian#Don.27t_blindly_follow_bad_advice Don't blindly follow bad advice Unfortunately there's a lot of bad advice on the Internet. Tutorials found on blogs, forums and other sites often include instructions that will break your system in subtle ways. Don't simply f...

Re: Preconfiguring a package for numerous installations

if I do a dpkg-preconfigure, is there somewhere a file that is created with the answers to the questions, so that I can then copy this file on another machine and have the package install non-interactively? See debconf.conf(5) . There is some more documentation, here: https://manpages.debian.org/un...

Re: Extend an extended partition into a primary partition

There might be some other ways to approach this, more practical,(my opinion). But no point in going into them if the OP is not interested in other options. Also something to consider, and I may be wrong, since I don't use windows my self, and don't need it, also this was several years ago I did need...

Re: Preconfiguring a package for numerous installations

I am looking at the files in the package download, and this really seems odd to me, now: fdelente wrote: I've asked the developers, but they didn't seem much at ease with debconf and couldn't really give me any hint on how to do! Yet they are using a "debconf" directory, and module, in the...

but can a file be used instead? My approach would be to make a copy, or take notes, and put them in a file. EG: On the first install and set up procedure, copy/paste your answers/responses to a file, keep that handy,...When you do the next install, instead of typing each response letter by letter,y...

They don't say much: https://wiki.debian.org/NetworkInterfaceNames#Why_it_was_abandoned Why it was abandoned At least in theory, if module probes completed in a different order, eth0 and eth1 might switch places on successive boots.
