Add a bluetooth dongle...

#1 Post by PDA123 »

I'm running Debian 11 on a Dell optiplex 330.
There's no bluetooth hardware installed and I'd like to add it...maybe some dongle or something like that?

What dongle do I get? Need a hardware recommendation as I don't know how to go about doing this.

Thanks.

Code: Select all

Bus 004 Device 004: ID 0a12:0001 Cambridge Silicon Radio, Ltd Bluetooth Dongle (HCI mode)
can't remember what 'brand' it might be, but works well.

Kinivo BTD-400 Bluetooth has the Broadcom BCM20702A0 Bluetooth 4.0 chip and, at least with all installed firmware, works out of the box in Debian and Manjaro. It even advertises Linux and Raspberry Pi compatibility on the box. I use it on my gaming rig and typically, it runs a game controller and headphones with no problems, no loss of connection etc. I can even go through the entire flat without connection loss. Pulseaudio automatically switches volume output when I connect my headphones without problems. The dongle is in the 10-15€ price range.
