How to change desktop resolutions in debian-mate on Testing.

#1 Post by shirish »

I am on Debian testing. Somehow the display resolution got screwed. Xrandr shows the following -

Code: Select all

$ xrandr
    Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 1024 x 768, maximum 16384 x 16384
HDMI-1 connected primary 1024x768+0+0 (normal left inverted right x
    axis y axis) 160mm x 90mm
       1024x768 60.00*+ 75.03 70.07 60.00
       1920x1080 60.00 59.94
       1600x1200 60.00
       1680x1050 59.88
       1280x1024 75.02 60.02
       1440x900 74.98 59.90
       1280x960 60.00
       1280x800 59.91
       1152x864 59.97
       1280x720 60.00 59.94
       800x600 75.00 60.32
       640x480 75.00 60.00 59.94
HDMI-2 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)

Now the default resolution I was running on before this was 1600x900 but somehow it has come back to the default of 1024x768. Even the display it has detected is fault, it is a 21' LED monitor, Viewsonic, while it shows some other brand name from some other company/brand which I haven't heard.

How can I fix this?

The Desktop environment is mate, The display manager is lightdm, while marco is the minimal window manager.
Intel Dual-Core CPU E5400 (soc 775) @ 2.70GHz, onboard Intel G33, Asus MB P5KPL-AM IN (Intel G31), D-Link 2750u modem+router, 64-bit Debian Testing, Mate 1.26

In mate desktop set display resolution. Go to: controle=center --> Displays --> Look at available resolutions and select one you wish.
