Missing firmware

#1 Post by Da7474 »

Please, do you can to add navi10_mes firmware? Because I have Debian 11 bullseye on an Acer Aspire with AMD Radeon R2 graphics and I get this warning:

w: Possible missing firmware /lib/firmware/amdgpu/navi10_mes.bin for module amdgpu.

I looked for it in your repositories but I've not found it.

I've also seen that you don't have another missing firmware and it's sienna_cichlid_mes.bin in the module amdgpu and I've download it in Github.

It's just a suggestion and if you add these firmwares, I'll be very thankful with you.

If your graphics work fine, you don't need it and can ignore the warning.

From the release notes: https://www.debian.org/releases/bullsey ... led-system

Code: Select all

# apt install isenkram-cli
and

Code: Select all

# isenkram-autoinstall-firmware
As Bloom stated above: If everything works, just ignore it.

Just to clarify why the firmware is missing and why you don't need it:

The messages in your first code block are warnings rather than errors and some of them refer to firmware for which the hardware hasn't been released yet. AMD like to get ahead of the game and will submit drivers early.

Please do a websearch for those two warning messages and report back (in detail) what you found, as the guide to asking for help on this forum clearly asks you to do before posting. I know there are plenty of Linux hits for those.
