Creating detailed raster path Maps (no GPS)

#1 Post by bester69 »

Sometimes we need to get a quick path map in order to get to somewhere, and apps such like earth or openmaps just offer us the possibility to print a small screen display area, so we cant get a full properly view for long paths distances..which is very annoying.

the trick would be to capture as many displays screens along the path way as we need to complete the distance..

0- we install Gnome-maps:

1- we generate trajectory path between two points, and keep display to a good readable scale view.:
 For it, select export screen option as an image:

2- We open Gimp with a big display such as A3 page and we start importing each capture in different layouts.:
2.1 we manually merge maps to make all of them fix together the whole path trajectory (we can make use of zoom to help us to join all maps together)

2.2. Finally we.. select cut image and export it. and we get a good resulting properly Map. to help us to get to destinity: :o
