Partitioning during install
Re: Partitioning during install
I looked up Advent 4211-C and it seems to be sufficient for running Debian 11 according to https://www.debian.org/releases/stable/ ... tml#idm120 unless I'm misreading something. If you go that route I recommend a lightweight GUI like Openbox, it uses about 200mb of ram for me at idle. Or just go without any DE or WM if you can.
Since it seems like your issue is with partitioning have you tried to partition manually? I recommend: https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Handbook:X ... tion/Disks as a guide to follow for that.

Re: Partitioning during install
Sunrat, many thanks for your explanation. I managed to get Antix loaded and it works a whole lot better than Win x did. I have been exploring its boundaries this week and while there are some it doesn’t appear to be as bad an experience as I had thought.sunrat wrote: ↑2021-09-14 15:18 That RaspberryPi OS is designed for RaspberryPi computers and contains specific drivers and firmware etc. for those. (Incorrect, thanks pH). Probably does not contain some drivers needed for other hardware.
I have an ASUS EeePC which is similar age to your netbook and similarly low powered. It needs a very light distro, currently has Antix but struggles to do any heavier work like internet browsing with only 1GB RAM. Plays music fine which is its only current role. Give Antix a try - https://antixlinux.com/
There are live Debian images available which you can run from USB drive to see if it works fine and can then install directly from the booted live system. The lightest desktops available are LXQt or LXDE - https://cdimage.debian.org/cdimage/unof ... so-hybrid/
Thanks once again to all who have assisted.
Regards
