HP ProLiant Gen8

#1 Post by WolfG »

Greetings!

installed debian bullseye on a HP ProLiant MicroServer Gen8 with an integrated Matrox G200 video card.

I noticed that the GUI is very slow and wonder if there is a better driver available.
Searched the HP pages but found windows drivers only.

Thanks for hints.

Are the packages xserver-xorg-video-mga and firmware-linux installed ? Can you report the file /var/log/Xorg.0.log ?

Hello,
WolfG wrote: 2021-09-05 09:14 Could not attach ascci file, allows gif only?!
If i recall correctly, it depends on the file extension: compressed file are allowed for attachment in the forum
WolfG wrote: 2021-09-05 09:14 This is the Xorg.0.log:
Thanks, only a suggestion: the log or code in the text of messages should be included between code tag (not quote tag).

Code: Select all

[ 26.259] (--) Log file renamed from "/var/log/Xorg.pid-562.log" to "/var/log/Xorg.0.log"

[ 27.610] (EE) Failed to load module "mga" (module does not exist, 0)
[..]
[ 35.735] (EE) modeset(0): glamor initialization failed
The log file you sent shows that the X server tries to load the mga module, but it is not installed. The mga stands for Matrox Graphic Adapter. Therefore, probably you should install the xserver-xorg-video-mga and firmware-linux packages with their dependecies.
