stuck on boot: unable to enumerate USB device

#1 Post by Kharkovchanka 22 »

Hi all,

Installed Debian 11 on new Clevo NP70PNH laptop with USB drive (flash with Rufus).

New Clevo laptop, has no other operating system.

First with: [debian-11.4.0-amd64-DVD-1], which didn't
work because of the following error during boot up:
"usb usb3-port10: unable to enumerate USB device".

Then with: [debian-live-11.4.0-amd64-gnome+nonfree], which
seemed to succesfully bypass the problem during boot up.

During installation I had to boot up with the USB drive in
one of the 2 USB ports, for it to load in the EUFI boot
menu, but otherwise they worked fine after installation.

Then did the following:
1. added contrib and non-free repos, and reloaded to update repositories (not reboot)
2. installed nvidia driver, with folowing commands in terminal:
a. sudo apt install nvidia-detect
b. sudo nvidia-detect
c. sudo apt install nvidia-driver
d. rebooted the kompjuter

And ran across the same error: "usb usb3-port10: unable to enumerate USB device".

Which shows in normal boot mode and recovery boot mode.

The process remains frozen at this point,
and the laptop can only be turned of with
a manual shut down.

Which it does smoothly, without a fuss.

Before I go ahead an reinstall again,
does anyone have any advice on an
alternative way to solve this problem?

Maybe search online: unable to enumerate USB device. Lots to read there. Maybe useful.
